Very nice! I’m jealous of the sensible cable stops. My partners rockhopper (seen above) is from the era of the seattube junction cable guide so it’s not possible to sensible install v-brakes as you have done!

A less shiny bottle cage would finish this off nicely.

I despise Velo Orange purely for not pre bending the seat stay bracket, the fact these need to be fully fitted, then removed and trimmed and fully refitted…but they look nice.

For reference - this is the 60 mm 26 inch mudguard on a 2.15 in tyre.

So obviously still needs a different rear tyre. Brakes need attention and ideally black spacers for the bars. But it’s sort of rideable.

Need to address some of the rust spots before they worsen and the frame has some quirks - there were clearly drop out screws that have rusted in, but the tab is inboard so catches the cassette lock ring - clearly a dedicated single speed hub would be better.

I love this as a follow up to a chat on a sustainability - just buy more with more packaging and ship stuff more. Or..ask for sizing advice and avoid it. Hardly like sizing advice plagues this thread.

I have: 30t chainring, 11t cog, 16t cog, deore xt crankset from 2012

I reckon with a 26t inner, should have the ability to have trail & commute gearing. Or I just ride everywhere nice and slowly on 30/16.

Really can’t fault my Faran. Perfect for some party pace (by choice not fitness…honest…) road, gravel, single track etc. 2.1 inch tyres roll surprisingly well. Few more weeks then this will get mudguards and skinnier tyres for late autumn/winter/spring.

Mock up one. Front wheel will be swapped to match rear, rear tyre will be swapped out once i find one. Brakes to go on (and be bled). probably add some hollow tech cranks…and looks like I might be able to get a saddle operated dropper for it.

parts bin throw some parts at it is the current plan! i just have to decide if i reuse some parts off a currently built bike…

Sounds like if you want full suspension you want a modern xc bike for the riding you are doing.

What is your current 26” hardtail and what is the 27.5” full suspension? What sort of riding are you doing?

Modern geometry is wonderful (in my view) so trying to find 26” old school stuff doesn’t make much sense? Though I guess it depends on the riding you are doing. Worth keeping an eye out for an old Cotic Rocket?

Serious answer - they have nice support and grip without destroying shoes. Modern mtb pedals are wonderful but they do not take kindly to a crepe sole.

Shocking photo, apologies. Swapped from Kona Hahanna to this GT because it has horizontal drop outs and since first seeing the GT on Stridsland.

Still need to swap saddle to plain black and fit some mudguards for the wet.

Also have the same problem with Restrap front harness…so much so it has tyre rub marks. Run a front rack these days though (and barely need to use it anyway) but I could see voile straps making a lot of sense.

I used the voile straps with foam spacers to run my bigxtop bag on a rack without the clickfix fastening. Works a treat.

Edit: they were very good about replacing a dry bag that ripped.

The disc brake mount is very neat.

Forks - are they butted tubes or is it same thickness all the way down? Looks like a solid joint so doubt it’s going to do anything weird under braking.

It looks like it. I’m now in Canada and exceedingly lucky that one of my local bike shops actually stocks them. That said - the size guide is pretty spot so you just need to print it out figure it out from there.
