The toe overlap is something crazy so unfortunately I'm gettin regular pedals w/o straps and a clamp on keirin brake.
I don't get it, if you get different pedals your feet are still in the same position right? so toe overlap is not going to go away? also front wheel/downtube clearance looks scaaaaary

It's clearly not a patent issue, since tensioned UD fibre has been used by plenty of people other than Lightweight, it's just rank stupidity on the part of Madfiber (clue is in the name). All the fibres at right angles to the tensile load are contributing precisely nothing to the strength of the spoke, and are probably increasing the probability that a crack in an edge will propagate across the full width of the spoke.
Sure the perpendicular fibres won't be bridging any crack that wants to propagate, but increase the probability that the crack will propagate? magically reducing the fracture toughness by their presence? I find that unlikely.

I agree, but the Weinmann ones go for silly money, if they come up on the market. Also, I had several bad experiences with brake QRs when I used to race BMX: becoming undone during a heat all on its own, my foot catching the QR lever and undoing it, etc. Although I won't be riding this one like I did a BMX, I simply do not have much love for QRs...
I got one of these for free the other day. I took the quick release bit off because I had no idea how it works! can someone enlighten me?

If its on a budget then I wouldn't bother with a respray just yet. Get it rolling first, cheap resprays just get damaged in a second.
