I was just coming here to ask for nature/conservation writing recommendations.
I’ve just read Braiding Sweetgrass (which is beautifully written and explores the meeting of indigenous and scientific knowledge in ecology), and Elegy for a River (written by a friend of mine but also wonderful and his story of studying the ecology of water voles and what happens when science knowledge meets policy)

Not calling you a twat, you shared a video that’s been shared thousands of other times.
Not all zoos are bad, but I deeply doubt this is in a zoo and even if it is, no good zoo is going to parade it’s animals around in golf carts. According to the comments this is in Dubai (the Burj Al Arab is visible) and most likely this orang, and the tiger in the background, are nothing more than playthings of the super rich. The twats are the people who perpetuate this trade in wildlife, especially the consumers.

On today’s walk we saw what I think were multiple (30-40 individuals) red crested pochard. Large to medium sized, strikingly russet head, white sides, and dark chest and tail.
My bird app (Collins British birds) gives them the classification V* /rB5 which I think means it is a vagrant with a small (<100pair) breeding population. Is that right? And does that mean it’s pretty unusual to see them in large numbers?

Zwift has two ramp tests, the “ramp test” and the “ramp test lite” that is for smaller or less experienced riders. The overall shape of the two ramps is similar but the starting power is lower in the lite version, and I think the steps are smaller. I did the ramp test lite with a friend and it was fine for him (ftp ~ 150w) but I (ftp ~275w) maxed it out. I need to do the full fat version to get accurate results. The point is that you can get different ramp tests of differing difficulty but as hippy says it’s a maximal test so if you max out the test then you need to find a harder test.

No offroad races that long in the uk unfortunately.
Shame but I’ll continue to keep an eye out. It seems there are no off-road races off any description near me, and I doubt the family would appreciate me dragging them half way across the country for a short race.
Are you trying to fit a bento box to your top tub without drilling it or using ugly straps?
Nah, I have an old skool P2 of similar vintage and the drilling is to move the internal cable routing up behind the stem just as Ed has done on his frame.

I think an off road triathlon will be in my future for 2022/2023. Ideally I think I’d like something that is roughly equivalent to middle/half iron in duration so maybe 4-5 hrs ish total.
Roughly how long would the bike leg be? I’ve done some limited googling but struggling to find something that jumps out at me.

Dan Lloyd is good value:

Nothing wrong with cyclists trying to monetise their personal brand but this is definitely a bit weird.

I was just watching a crappy YouTube video and when it ended the advert below the video was a picture of my fiancé. Before I could screen shot it the next video started and I can’t get back to the same ad. Is there any way to see a list of advertisements that have been shown or get it back?
For no other reason than to troll her on the family WhatsApp group 🤣
Shame. Rooting for Cam Mason in the mens… I like his YouTube videos and he seems like a good guy.
