Also you need a brake that stops the whhel going round, the brake on the chainring idea just does the job that legs are supposed to do.
Agreed, retarded idea. -

Hi there,
I need some data that's already in the public domain for the quatitative research methods module for university.
I was going to do a questionnaire and put it on some forums to get people involved like that but it turns out it's too much messing about with the ethics clearence (most forums allow people as young as 13 to be a member).
My research interest is utility cycling, so does anyone know why I can get some data to do with cycle commuting or anything like that? Maybe the results of surveys about how many people travel in and out of and around London by bike or something like that.
Thanks everyone.

Thanks spudger but I've got a Giro helmet pod (sounds like that's what your refering to).
My D lock fits though one of the vents so I might try that but that leaves having to carry the airzound horn around in my bag, I was hoping if I could have a helmet box then the horn inside the helmet in the box. It seems to me that it would be something a manufacturer would have already thought of, oh well.

Hi everyone,
Is there such a thing as a helmet box that bolts on to a rear rack or something, to put the helmet in to save having to carry it arround, sort of like motor cyclists can get but more lightweight?
I've done a websearch and nothings turned up so I'm now thinking of making one out of a large tupperwear box, because ideally it needs to be transparent so that potential theives can see that it's only got a sweaty helmet inside that's not worth breaking into it for.

I'm just wondering how to prevent my bike being stolen by someone using a serious version of this tac-tic, ie, putting their own D lock on then coming back in the middle of the night in a van with a cutting tool to cut through my lock. And I'm wondering if said serious version of this tac-tic is often used by serious theives?

Thinking about it; I'd feel a lot less guilty about using an aluminium bike frame than I've let on, As opposed to the wastefulness of aluminium drinks cans and aluminium car wheels, etc.
I mean, a single aluminium car wheel is about five times the mass of a bike frame and there's actually no point to them apart from making the car look a bit more swish than normal wheels do.

Losing some weight surely would make a difference but short of the lance Armstrong method of getting cancer upgrading my kit is the only way to stop it beeing so flexible.
I do use stuff with batteries but keep those things and there use to a minimum. Being bothered about the wider environment and other people around the world is abbout compromise.....

I'm twenty stone (I weigh 20 stone that is) so probably do have the legs of Chris Hoy. Its the front end that seems most flexy though, I've got straight bars and I'm always noticing how much it bend when I put the preessure on.
I'm not keen on Aluminium because of how many people get displaced in the mining of Bauxite (I hope I've spelt that right) and things like the Hungarian toxic red sludge, it seems to me that steel is the most ethical bike material. Am I right?
What's Titanium like in terms of the energy it takes to process it and the potentially toxic chemicals that are used to process it, how ethical is it?

When I wrote 'where's the best place to get one', I meant which shop is most likely to have one in stock. They seem to be not well supplied.
My Pompino isn't all that stiff, I read in reveiws of the Bianchi Pista that it's made from plain guage tubing for stiffness. And that's what I meant when I asked abbout any other manufacturers that make a similar machine.....
-
Hi London guys,
I Fancy a Bianchi Pista bike, the steel chrome one (I've got a Pompino at the moment but want something a bit more flash, and sturdy).
Where's the best place to get one?
And do any frame manufacturures make a similar type of machine but with inch and an eighth head set instead of inch?
Thanks dudes.
