what do you guys think of this http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/product/16578/SE_Racing_Lager_SingleSpeed_Bike_2008 as a first SS on a shoestring? i'm 6'6" and want something cheap that i'm not going to hate very quickly, i'm planning to ride it to work (when i get a job!).

Go second hand, you'll get much more for your money.

I've had a look around, and though you would beat that price in a second-hand purchase (as mmccarthy said), its still a good deal for the price.

If a weight-vs-price criteria were to be established, then the SE Lager (at 21.5lbs) would do pretty well in that chart.

not sure it'll remain in my price range though.

seems difficult to find a bigger frame, also i'm not really looking for a project, i've done a project bike and by the end i'd spent a lot more than i planned!

any suggestions (<£300) better than this pista or the lager??

Go for the Pista, if it is less than £300, then it's great value for money, especially with decent brake and it's a 2009 version, that brand new cost £550.

That's pretty decent considering what's thrown in with it, and yes, before anyone says, I am biased as I have one, but it is really light compared with any other OTP i've tried, that was the main selling point for me.

In case anyone wants to know the end of this story, I've gone for a second-hand Charge Plug. Thanks for the advice. j
