thanks CrazyJames, much appreciated.
could you recommend a brand of whey protein while we are at it? price is a concern. reason I am bothering people on this forum about it is that I somehow trust people here a bit more than on the weight lifter forums I've visited recently.
yeah, and i promise to everyone else to keep munching away at plenty of the usual healthy stuff.
oh, and how much did you weigh at the time when you had 220 - 280 g protein a day CrazyJames? just thinking in terms of relativity like.
-
I manage about 150g on a 'vegetarian' day.
yikes! if I could manage that we'd be getting somewhere.
I've just been trying to work this out.
ok... two pints of milk 40 grams taken care of...
half a bread perhaps? another 40 grams...
tins of chick peas? 15 g each... two of these? then we're at 110g..
then some pasta at ca. 10% protein? quite a few portions it must be.... fuck this is a lot in total....
yeah if you ever feel like PM'ing me some of your magic it'd be much appreciated, yeah Whatfriends, time to go to bed for me too. thanks tho :)
-
yep, a chicken breast (3.5 oz) - 30 grams protein.
yeah, my bad.
rechecked my notes. I manage about 60 grams average a day at the mo.to go beyond that I am curious about powders. of course for example two pints of milk and two chicken breasts every day and we be getting somewhere, but there are always those crappy food days that drags it all down again...
er, what makes anyone think I'd bother starting this thread as well as anally go trough my diet if I wasn't already lifting weights?
that said, all responses are much appreciated ;-) -
I appreciate what you are both saying, fannypack and whatfriends, but how many grams of protein a day are we talking about here chaps? do you actually manage to get much over 60 grammes daily from food alone? I am struggling around that mark and that's even with a diet where I am trying to specifically max on protein --> milk, fish, fowl, rice, pasta, other sorts of diary, beans, chick peas etc etc etc
-
Can anyone recommend any decent value protein supplement brands? For weight gain? There are just so many brands around and it being just a load of powder it's hard to tell the difference really. And it's pricey too, so I'd hate to waste my time and money on the wrong stuff.
Oh, and my diet is all good as it is, it's just a limit to how much chick peas, tuna etc I can stuff down a day.

BJ track vigorelli frame??
http://www.gumtree.com/london/99/36921999.html

While we are on the topic, are Vigorelli frames selling new at 345 quid a good buy?
As a newbie, the term "all round track frame" doesn't make much sense to me. Because track cyclists cycle round and round perhaps?

Transport for London have just re-printed a small leaflet we worked on about 5 years ago. If you read it from one side it starts "Ignorant lorry drivers" ... but if you pick it up the other way it starts "Ignorant cyclists!" I'll see if I can find the pdf and post it up here .. but not tonight. We don't have any in the office but I'm sure TfL will send some out.
I was given one of these leaflets by the police in Bishopsgate a few months ago. They invited people into a parked lorry to give a sense of what a lorry driver can actually see on the road. A bit geeky perhaps, but I kind of appreciate the effort they made.

... blunt sign that prevents at least one person from getting into a dangerous situation.
Another thing, not only cyclists will be reading these signs. It can be a good way to communicate to the general public that those anally narrow cycling paths on the left side of the road are a waste of public money. Typical Guardian readers think they are way in there with the cyclists and environmentalists when they argue for more cycle paths, but why the fuck shouldn't we have equal rights to the whole width of the road?

What is your bottom bracket height? (floor to center)
True.... but then again, it was a while ago and the list idea didn't quite seem to get going.
Please make this into a list. It just wouldn't be right if all these numbers weren't arranged into a list.
List please. List. List now thankyou. Listy list list. It's list time. -

I am getting a bit annoyed with the crank clearance on my current vintage frame fixed conversion, pedals scratching the tarmac when I turn corners and whatnot. I'm just curious at to what the rest of you put up with and what sort of bottom bracket clearance I can hope to get when shopping around for my next frame.
In order to learn more I would very much like to see us set up a list the way it has been done before on this forum. Just measure the distance from center of your BB to the ground, and perhaps add if you are riding a vintage or recent frame. I know there are lots of bike hoarding weirdos on here with all kinds of bikes at home, but preferably state the stats for your most frequently used city ride please.
If we get a decent amount of replies I might even re-edit this first post and set it up as a graph kind of thing?

... The most important measurement is the top tube length, which is very difficult to calculate.
Does anyone agree with this Bob of Bob's Garage on FGG that top tube lenght, or rather distance to handlebars, should be the lenght of your underarm plus outstreched hand?

I would imagine putting a new-ish straight fork on a typical old racing frame would make the front wheel clearance just that little bit tighter right?
but are there any issues here I am not aware of? anything that can go wrong or any compatibility issues? (besides the usual size issues that is)

sorry if this is a repost. I just like how thouroughly it has been done, even if it's just tarting up an OTP bike.
