A set of park patches failed me so much it was embarrassing. The patches dried up and became blister like, with air leaking out at the edges.
Wiggle are now sending me a free new set of the same kind. (Not what I asked for really, but fair enough). Should I even bother giving the replacement set a try? Some say Park patches are generally good and that I must have gotten a random dodgy set.

.. Not sure why it is that you want to add yoga to the routine? ...
You've got a point, I am not entirely sure either. but:
1) It's generally recommended by the senior guys where I train MA. Partly for flexibility, but they are also talking about 'well being'.
2) More strength at the core. Since I started seeking exercise advice on this forum, my back (hence posture) has improved tons thanks to CrazyJames and others. Now I am hoping I can do the same for the whole torso area. I hear people recommend pilates or yoga in this respect and choosing between pilates and yoga, I am more keen on the latter. It being about the spirit as you say and having a tradition closer to MA.
Question then: can it be added in addition to exercise since it is supposedly all about peace and love? Or should it be considered exercise in itself so that I should therefore tone down some of my other stuff to give my muscles enough rest time?

... which hand position(s) you're trying to replicate from your normal drop bar bike. If it's not the hook of the drops, then you're really wasting your time with a lo-pro ...
yeah, I am sort of thinking about that. I feel queasy using the drops on my 70s track bike as that means my front brake is out of reach should I need it. (never managed to skid on the red stuff in bus lanes). a lo pro with straight bars and one of those modern stems could be the answer?
-
... I think the lo-pro is better than the track bike for the environment in question. I really do. I'm just about to sell all my "track" frames off and just keep the lo-pro....
are there rule-of-thumb sizing guides for lo pros? I know what height of seat and head tube I would like, but the sloping of top- and seat tubes has me confused.

m.f., I've got no experience of yoga, but I'd like to get going with it within the end of 2010.
my question is the extent to which yoga strains your muscles in an exercise sort of way. my question is more precisely; can I do it in addition to my current exercise regime? I lift weights 3 times a week and one to two evenings of martial arts, and the cycling averages an hour a day. I am over 30 and sometimes I wonder if my body/muscles get the time to recuperate enough. there are days where my legs and arms feel a bit overdone - not tired or stiff, just a bit weird.
can I add yoga to this regime or will I have to cut something out? also; I have very limited funds (that's why I keep coming back to this forum). who can suggest the best value yoga place in east end?

" ... The Hobart City Council is calling for expressions of interest from an artist, craftsperson, designer or consortium, to develop bicycle parking infrastructure providing functional public art installations in Hobart.
These projects will aim to create iconic bike parking facilities in both Salamanca Place and outside six cultural institutions around Hobart. ... "
Should be enough artistic/designer talent on here to come up with something. Who's gonna represent the forum down under? Post your proposal here or it doesn't count.

wow. the mountainbikers are practically raving about rock'n'roll gold.
but there is the stray comment about the solvent part of the stuff getting into the ballbearings of the hub.
anyone?
-
who wants to give their opinion on different brands of cogs? a bit off topic for 'current projects' I know but this is where the bike boffins usually gather on Sundays so worth a shot.
so far I am finding halo, miche, surly and phil mentioned a lot. but searching the forum didn't throw up a lot of comparative discussions. and the prices (except the phils) are too close to say "you get what you pay for".

this all sounds far too complicated! i just use ...
... it, seems like unnecessary faff to me. I just ...
I find it hilarious that there are people who put down others' recommendations as too much hassle. And then move onto claim that they "just" do so and so, which happens to be a two- or three step process just as laborious as everyone elses.

yep. there's nothing bad to be said about olive oil. I use it around the house. for creaky doors for example. not so much because it's cheap, but it's nice to know that I am using something non toxic.
but if there is a product that will make sure the chain won't soil my clothes, it might be worth that extra bit of money for me. think job interview type clothes or similar.
-
I'm ready to make the step away from the LBS 2 quid oil and will therefore resurrect a year old thread.
So 'clean ride' for example, does that mean I will get less shit on my trousers or will it give me a cleaner chain but with more shit coming off?
What should I choose when my priority is less dirt coming off the chain? ..... I might attract some generic HTFU replies, but thing is at times life requires that you don't follow the whole fakenger look.

one question about linnell bags which hasn't been asked yet;
does the red postie bag accidentally slide around to the front when you ride like most 'not-quite-courier' bags out there, or is there some mechanism (not shown in the pic) that keeps it steady on your back?
yeah, and I might be up for a group buy off linnell.
-
-
...
I have binned the standard liner, and got hold of a set of Garmont ski boot liners - these are about the best out there, fully custom fitable, but not cheap at about 180 quid a pop. ....Yeah... 180 squid a pair is a lot. Could you recommend cheaper alternatives? I would like to keep my current boots if I could get sorted with new liners.

nah, this really ought to be a product enquiry thread.
some dude told me that those floor standing yellow punch bags at Gymbox costs about £100. retail price supposedly. I've been all over the web without finding anything close to that, in fact there isn't much floor standing stuff around at all. what do you reckon people? live in a rented flat so ceiling hanging bag thing isn't really on.

What kind of coating is that?^
