Belated entry to the discussion as to whether Trump is the vehicle for someone else's agenda. I stopped believing in there being a nefarious cabal behind Trump ages ago. I reckon Trump's 2016 win was mostly sheer luck, and a reflection of people's discontent. Claims of Russian meddling and Facebook manipulation was just something for the left to cling to.
In his previous presidency there were inevitably some adults in the room, but that was mostly because Trump's campaign hade made no provisions for an actual win. This time around he will have a fair claim to have earned his win outright, and with that he can hire and fire sycophants at an even higher rate than before. Next time he suggests throwing nukes into a hurricane, will there really be anyone to stop him? -

Maybe I misunderstood, but are you essentially saying you're planning on running twice per week at 20k, 10k of which being race pace?
Yes, this is what I am thinking. But I am new to running so no idea of how this actually works longer term.
occasional interval sessions for speed and then fitting a 10k effort fortnightly.
Gotcha.

I did a 10km charity run recently and managed on an OK time.
Since the route passes quite close to where I work I figured I wanted to keep trying on a weekly basis over the summer to see if I could improve upon my time. Basically running at full tilt and see where I end up. Other than that I will continue to do a gentle weekly 10k run where I try to stay inside zone 2.
The question is that Garmin seems to think pushing myself on the charity run route is scary stuff that needs proper recovery. (See attached) Is it still sensible to try to do this every weekly over the next few weeks? -

makes a compelling case that Neanderthals were ...
I don't have a scientifically based rebuttal, but on the whole I am extremely skeptical of anyone ascribing positive traits to Neaderthals. Seeing as only European whiteys seem to carry their genes, their supposed superiority in northern climates bla bla.. could become just another rallying point for racist knuckleheads.
EDIT: I am not saying the person making interesting claims about Neanderthals is racist, but I am saying they should thread extremely carefully.

he definitely has lost some marbles since the last campaign.
For sure. He was always an asshole, but he didn't always have this level of unhinged vulnerability. People suggest a phobia of sharks coming to the surface in that speech.
For example, when Ali G tried to interview him in the 1990s I reckon he handled it quite well. Didn't let himself get riled up, didn't waste any time getting into arguments once he realised he was getting trolled. -
Or is it just the senility setting in proper?
My guess would be a perfectly age appropriate level of dementia? And the symptoms of the dementia are probably no better or worse than what you would expect from an overworked and sleep deprived person of his age.
EDIT: Actually, he's 77... I think my grampa's cognitive decline started showing about 10 years after that.

"... And it must be cuz of MIT, my relationship to MIT. Very smart. He goes, I say "What would happen if the boat sank from its weight and you're in the boat and you have this tremendously powerful battery and the battery is now underwater and there's a shark that's approximately 10 yards over there?' By the way, a lot of shark attacks lately. You notice that? A lot of shark. I watched some guys justifying it today. Well, they weren't really that angry. They bit off the young lady's leg because of the fact that they were, they were not hungry, but they misunderstood what, who she was. These people are crazy. He said there's no problem with sharks they just didn't really understand a young woman swimming. Now really got decimated and other people too. A lot of shark attacks. 'So I said, so there's a shark 10 yards away from the boat. 10 yards over here. Do I get electrocuted if the boat is sinking, water goes over the battery, the boat is sinking. Do I stay on top of the boat and get electrocuted or do I jump over by the shark and not get electrocuted?' because, I will tell you, he didn't know the answer. ... "
