Can someone explain the J. D. Vance selection to me?
In addition to what has been said already I would suggest that one of Vance's qualities is that apart from the Silicon Valley guys he doesn't have much of a base to lean on.
My guess is that Trump is still sore from Pence's standing up to him on Jan. 6th, and Trump might think this is because Pence had the fundamentalists to fall back on. Vance won't have anyone and will be Trump's puppet for the rest of his political career. -
Would recommend Isabella Hammad's 'Enter Ghost'.
It's not delivering that much in terms of a plot, instead it's a fairly linear sequence of events as a British-Palestinian woman travels back to both Israel and the West Bank and gets entangled with various people and situations.
In addition to bringing out lots of interesting nuance in the Israel/Palestine conflict, seen with Arab eyes, she's also amazing at detail and descriptions of everyday scenes. -

So I shelled out for a lactate test with blood tests and everything, and was told my treshold is 165 bpm or 11.8 km/t on a treadmill.
This was at a lab in my local uni and the dude doing the tests is apparently a well respected academic in his field. Now here's the bit I find a little confusing; for fat burn he advised me to stay in zone 1, where, according to him I should not go above 140 bpm. But according to the internets, zone 2 provides optimal fat burn and in my case this would be 135 - 147.
Personally, I would find the latter to be much more enjoyable, and with plenty of room before my lactate threshold at 165 there should be little risk of me sabotaging my fat burn right? -
It seems as if the alt right bubble has lost its lustre to a significant extent.
Overall, traffic to pro-Trump sites declined 40% over the past four years.

He began by sticking to his script, solemnly referencing the failed assassination attempt ... and almost immediately changed the subject. “And there’s an interesting statistic,” he said: “The ears are the bloodiest part. If something happens with the ears, they bleed more than any other part of the body. For whatever reason, the doctors told me that.”

I'm reading that all the top democrats are now lining up behind Kamala as their presidential nominee. However, someone pointed out that having a tussle for the Democratic candidacy could actually be a positive thing. A kind of X Factor type of competition that would draw in the viewers and overshadow all of the Republicans' shenanigans.
It's probably preferable that there is no doubt that the party is united behind Kamala, but how about creating a proper show out of who should fill the VP spot? An element of competition could create genuine excitement and you'd get to see rhetorical heavy weights like Buttigieg battle it out on stage at a level that will only highlight what a bunch of incoherent brats MAGA scum like Baubert or Gaetz really are. -

Identity gets mentioned a lot because it's easy for journalists to write about. Need to cram in a certain number of words before a tight deadline? Make sure to bring up her gender and skin colour. Every time.
What I am less convinced about however is that this will affect the median swing voter. The block of surprisingly few people who will get her across the finish line. I think she has a fair chance of winning against Trump. He suddenly looks a lot less attractive when next to a perfectly lucid VP with no known stains on her track record. -

try a Garmin watch
You can find great value Garmin watches second hand. I got a Forerunner 245 for next to nothing. As for your question about older models for the sake of aesthetics, I reckon you'd want something relatively recent so that you won't have issues syncing with your phone, headphones, HR strap and so on.

At this point there's no chance Girmay won't win the green right?

I think they’re expecting a lot from a man in his late 70s
