I was working in the science museum a few weeks back one morning before it opened to the public and there seemed to be some kind of small event going on for wheelchair users. Each wheelchair looked to be of a different design to the others and the one that really stood out appeared to be based on these things and was running around the place in permanent wheely mode. Awesome and just a bit frightening with the occupants head being the first point of contact if it flipped backwards.

has anyone ever applied for Lasting Power Of Attorney or have any knowledge of the process?
My mum is v ill and I have to take over her financial matters.I have dowloaded the forms from the govt website - around 40 or so pages - but it's complicated. Cost to do it yourself: £120. Cost to get a solicitor to do it: +/- £1,000. aaaaggghhh!

This was done a few years back for an elderly relative as part of a will writing excercise by a local (Welling) solicitor. I don't remember the actual cost but it was nowhere near £1k. It was however done as a precationary measure for the future and not as a necessity so costs may differ in your case (making assumptions here about your mother's condition).

Is that just off the Commercial Road down a side street? If so I went there a couple of months ago and yes, food was excellent. Downsides - long queue for a seat and bring your own beer.

Lack of effort fail
I always carry a portable mig welder, a wheel clamp shaped like a t bone and a gallon of unleaded. When someone carves me up I clamp their car, weld their doors shut and have a good old fashioned roadside burning at the stake......
