I don't think it is Italian thread...
Looking at your picture, I'm assuming this is the right hand side of the bike (drive side), If so you should be turning this cup clockwise to undo and the other side should turn anti-clockwise to undo as it says on the cup 137x24 BSC which is unless I'm mistaken is british thread and not 36x24 tpi which would be italian.
Hope this helps and I'm not missing something?

After hearing the guys I work with talking about richmond park on numerous occasions, yesterday I decided it was time to do a lap myself. I only really ride to commute at the moment which means riding 8 miles a day so I thought i'd be looking at about 25-30 mins for a lap.
Starting at Stag lodge entrance and riding clockwise, I didn't know the route so took it easy in case a hill suddenly appeared.
I was riding fixed 39 x 16 and surprised myself with a lap time of 22 minutes 30 seconds which has got me thinking of what might be possible if I push myself and try it on a different set up.
Really want to try it with drops as I've never properly ridden anything other than risers as I previously only rode BMX so prefer an upright riding position although now I'm becoming more and more frustrated by the amount of wind resistance sitting bolt upright causes when I'm trying to go fast.
I've definitely caught the go fast bug!

Some of my thoughts...
Function comes before form although I prefer minimal, understated accessories which don't detract from the over all look of a bike, or as little as possible.
I don't like ugly brackets for lights and locks, bolted all over bikes when they are not being used.
Lock brackets are generally terrible and not worth using but riding with a bulky, heavy lock in your bag is uncomfortable.
Carrying a wet/dirty clip on mudguard when you lock your bike up isn't nice.

Great, the clipping-and-unclipping-and-clipping-and-unclipping lights and lights getting turned on in bags/pockets is exactly the kind of annoyance I'm looking at dealing with.
If I continue this project I'll definitely update it here.
Ah great one jaw, knowing how people tackle these problems individually will help immensely.

It's called future design for future need. I'm looking at Londons aims to increase the use of bikes and how the proposed growth of cyclists will effect the design of low to mid range cycling accessories. Ideally I want to produce a concept product which will make the cycling experience easier, simpler and less hassle which in turn will make cycling a more attractive prospect to non-cyclists.

I'm working on a project at uni and need to gather cyclists views on a number of things.
What type of lock/ locks (D-lock, chain, cable, other) do you use and do you have a preferred method of locking your bike?
What type of light/ lights (LED, constant beam, none, other) do you use?
What type of mudguard (full, clip on/off, none, other)
When you lock your bike up do you remove any particular parts to avoid theft and if so where do you store them?
Have you identified any problems, difficulties or annoyances when it comes to using bike accessories such as locks, lights and mudguards?.
Also why do you use the accessories you use?.... what are the defining factors when you choose these products?
Any other comments regarding bike accessories of any kind are welcome.
Thanks in advance for taking part.

The picture is the correct way to fit a half link chain. The shadow conspiracy interlock is the original and only half link chain worth buying. The picture shows a version 2 of The shadow conspiracy chain with flat out edge for smoother grinding as it's designed for BMX use and rounded inner edge to allow a tighter curve to enable it to run on down to 8 tooth drivers (also BMX). The whole point in it being completely made of half links is so that when you grind a ledge on it, assuming your grinding in a forward direction, each link overlaps the next reducing the chance of prizing a link off as like a fishes scales they are smooth in one direction but not the other. The fact that the design also means greater freedom of chain length/adjustment is just a bonus. This is a BMX chain and is best suited for use on a BMX where chain tension is less of an issue. I still use one on my fixie though.

Dibs the GB stem. Is it of the spearpoint variety? I may be able to offer you something in return if you are after any parts?
