IMO you MUST have a price in mind, bc you keep saying you want more than is offered.
EDIT: on a good day on ebay I recon you could get +£150 for this... but its not a good day and its not ebay
....also you should start to plan out proceedings for a claim against the housemate for the money he owes, so if you find out where he lives you can serve on him asap.
Remember if you make all reasonable endevors to serve on him at his last know address its possible to can get a judgement in default. And if you have his bank details then you may be able to get a court order to withdraw that amount.
Or once you've got a judgement, you might be able to sell the debt to bailiffs to get some of your money back.
If you haven't already done so, you need to vist your CAB or equivilent asap to get a full grasp of your legal postition.
This all might be much harder if he's not a British Citz.
See above and thanks for the advice - I'll pass it on, cheers...

not to piss on your chips or owt but unless you edit your post you have made anyone viewing this aware that the property is not legally yours and making them culpable of receiving what could and would in most cases be seen as stolen goods
I hear what you're saying but I mean, as seen by who? It's a dead issue cos the guy's not coming back - he bailed and now his shit needs to be sold to account for his debts. I understand if people aren't cool with that, they won't buy it. But I know it's fine, whether or not that's good enough to make a sale, I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Cheers though...

just to clarify.
its not yours to sell but you want to sell it anyway however you dont know how much you want to sell it for.
that is roughly the measure of it yes?
buyer beware : for a moment imagine yourself explaining to a judge or magistrate the circumstances by which you came to have the bicycle in your possession.

sorry if i missed something.
Eh, yeah you did. What judge? People will come into possession of the bike by purchasing it off of me.
I said it's a legit sale, there's not a chance of the guy coming back for it - I know this, you don't. If you're not interested, that's fine - no need for the outlandish hypothesis imo!

Being aware of the sale does not make it legit - probably needs to consent to it.
Under normal circumstances I'd agree but he's really left my housemate in the shit with unpaid bills, rent and council tax. So it's morally legit. Legally, I'll happily carry the can, but I'm confident it'd never come to that, ok?

UPDATE from Velocio: If the sale of this bike occurs without clear consent from the owner, it would be a stolen bike, and you would be knowingly purchasing a stolen bike. BUYER BEWARE!
Here's the deal - my friend's housemate has gone awol, leaving behind substantial debt and this bike. My friend asked me to sell it asap as rent and possibly bailiffs are due - awol housemate is aware this is being flogged (and an asshole) so sale is legit, ok?
It's a 531 Lapierre road bike, 10 speed I think.
55 ctc, 56 ctt, 57 tobtube ctc.
Brakes: Mafal 2000
Cranks/gears: Stronglight Simplex
Hubs/rims/tires: Moyeux Pelisseur/Mavic tubs/Vittoria Competition - 26inch
Seatpost/saddle: Stronglight/Ideale
Stem/bars: Satri 38cm
Headset/bb: Unknown - sorry!Damage: Right pedal body is free of the axle - needs repairing/new bearing
Condition: Ok, few scratches, dirty - no rust though. As far as I'm aware this is a decent bike with all original (mainly French) parts. I know it's a decent frame with some nice components (crankset in particular) but I don't know a lot about road bikes so am pretty clueless about guide price. As I'm no expert, viewing is recommended - E3.
So throw me some offers please and we'll take it from there. (or if someone would be so kind as to inform me of a reasonable guide price, that'd be great too)
Cheers,
Eoin. -

Either way the area is a shithole fact - its got culture though, but its shit and can be very dangerous
Interesting fact! I live in a warehouse off Green Lanes and I like the place. Green Lanes is good for food and Stokie is fine for a pint. I've never felt threatened walking anywhere around Manor House at any hour, but as with anywhere in London, I'm sure you can find trouble if you're looking for it! And you've got Clissold and Finsbury Park nearby which is a big plus for me!

This sounds amazing, how much rent do you pay if you dont mind me asking, how much did it cost to build the rooms?
I'm not sure of exact cost but I think it averages out at around £40/week over the year, no other charges on top of that. Aside of course from the cost of building everything. but if you've got the time and motivation to look around, you pick up a lot of materials, bathroom and kitchen stuff for cheap if not free! I think we've paid an extra £1500 or so, but that's been split five ways.
So yeah, it can be pretty cheap and lots of fun doing, but it does require a lot of time and effort. In saying that, you can get a space that has been somewhat/fully built for you, but you will end up spending more rent.
