The first Alleycat in the series is The Cyclotrope Alleycat (with special thanks to Tim Wheatley for letting us play with his beautiful animation idea)

We're going to get you making animations on the interactive checkpoints and at the party at the finish.

The Cycle Oxford Festival is back, with some firsts for anyone with a bicycle in Oxford.

Facebook event to be found here.
This years festival brings you Oxford's first ever Tweed Ride on the Sunday. Offering the opportunity to come dressed in your finest, and amble around the older parts of our beautiful city and stop off for the occasional scone.
We'll also be one of 6 UK cities running a Papergirl Ride this spring.
Oxford's ride will take place on the Saturday and the ride is a celebration of art, bicycles and the act of giving. With the help of artisjustaword, Oxford's artists large and small will be donating simple paper works of art, which will be exhibited the during the festival week, and then handed out randomly to the public on the ride. Also not to be missed will be the Guerilla Gardening Alleycat. Come dressed as a gorilla and go in search of some green fingered interactive checkpoints.
On the Thursday will also be the opportunity to give Grass Track cycling and Bike Polo a try as we launch in partnership with Cherwell School, regular weekly sessions. Bikes and equipment will be provided, and May 5th is all about giving it a try.
We look forward to seeing you during this action packed week!
Just in case you haven't see it, here's the video of the 2009 festival:

Sounds crazy, but we've tried it in Oxford and it really works!
YouTube - Scrabble on Bicycles
Anyone in London willing to give it a try?
Oxford's next event is March 20th, but it's got to work just as well in other cities. You get an hour to find as many of the 30 Scrabble tiles we've hidden around our beautiful city. Collect all 30 or just 7, it doesn't matter because on arriving at the Scrabble board you have to select 7 tiles to enter the game with.
You don't get to refresh any tiles laid on the board, 7 tiles is it. You're only allowed one of each letter, and there's no bonus for laying 7 tiles at once. The highest score wins.

YouTube - Fastest Mechanic Competition 2011
So here's the Challenge, how fast can you change an inner tube? The wheel is out of the bike, and the starting and finishing tyre preasure needs to be 40PSI. It's that easy.
Last year the winner did it in a time of 1 minute 35.48 seconds, and the slowest person did it in around 9 minutes, and everyone had fun.
Post a time by sending us a video or coming to one of Cycle Oxford's events in 2011.
A full events guide is available here.
