If a magnet sticks to the steerer it is steel, if not ally. My guess is it is an alloy steerer - but it looks a bit fooked in the pic. You can pick up good condition carbon forks for about £30 second hand so my choice would be to buy a new fork. Safety first an all.
I don't have a magnet! I'll get one tomorrow, thanks.
I wanna solve this, I like puzzles and this is the new one ;)
here are some new pics:

here it is! it seems like the race had some solder on top. but I got it with a loose race. I'll try the coke can tomorrow and post results and better pics

First of all is you fork got an alloy steerer or Steel?
If Steel, you can either send it to a frame and fork specialist and they put brass around the bottom of the steerer and then ream it, this may mean a re-spray. 2nd option is get a sharp but broad centre punch and 'BOP' all around the race area (cheapest option)
If alloy, is it really loose that when you turn the fork upside down it falls off?....... get an alloy can (coke etc) and cut a very thin piece and glue that on maybe then press your race on!
DONT GLUE IT! GLUE WILL BREAK DOWN AND WILL COME LOOSE AFTER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME! :)
I'm not sure what you mean by this: "2nd option is get a sharp but broad centre punch and 'BOP' all around the race area (cheapest option)"

well, ok. here are the missing pieces of the puzzle:
1 - it's 1" and the headset is 1"
2 - not sure about what its made of: the fork is carbon and incredibly light so I'd say the tube is alloy. it's threaded though, don't know if it makes a diference
3 - yes, I have a few campagnolo and cheap races and they all fall when I turn the fork upside down
I thought about dripping some solder (?) and make the or glue it with some epoxy resin/glue. the coke can solution sounds good too

I'm looking at all black low profile rims to build with spare hubs I have and I've narrowed my options to these 2 disc rims:
mavics a317 - £27 pounds at CRC

WTB SX24 - £15 pounds at CRC

obviously the wtb ones are half the price and also look good but I had 50pounds to spend on rims and I'm guessing mavics are better.
does anyone had experience with the wtb ones?
ps.I UTFS and got nothing.

after a rib breaking crash with my macbook pro in the backpack I decided it's time to buy an hardshell case.

I've always like those incase black ones, but never got to buy one, don't know why. but now that I have finally decided to, surprise surprise! incase doesn't make them anymore to the old MB pro, and my local apple shop only has a pink one and a purple one! and I don't think my clients would find credible enough..haha
amazon doesn't have them, neither does ebay...
so, does anyone have one to sell? black 15"
ps. I'm in portugal.

I have no doubts that the fork was filed. I compared it will several other forks, both threaded and threadless and they all have almost a 1mm extra where the race should go
my new headset will get here tomorrow so then I'll post pics with the new race and coke can shim
