- "Taylor Swift?? Oh how eclectic!" (Good music's good music, Girls Aloud released one of THE great pop songs in my opinion, they just happen to be on Radio One and the cover of Smash Hits)
agree about Girls Aloud - Sugababes had a brilliant song too - still say Toxic by Spears is one of the greatest pop records ever made
Yes, yes, a thousand times yes.

Cant listen right now unfortunately, looking forward to giving it a whirl though

I was pretty hyped about both the Lone record and the Lee Perry/Orb record, and I have to say I haven't been grabbed by either of them, maybe its a case of not spending enough time with them, but my expectations were high and they just didn't quite deliver.** EDIT: **The Nathan Fake record on the other hand was great.
If you like ambient/field recording type stuff, the Robin The Fog record is amazing, field recordings done in the old BBC world service building then mixed on reel to reel tapes. it really is incredible.

This. And also +1 to Alt-J.
My other nominations:
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend!
Purity Ring - Shrines (although they are horrifically boring live)
Sharon Van Etten - TrampI liked the Godspeed record but it wasn't wholly up to scratch with previous work I thought, have enjoyed all the Van Etten I've heard but haven't picked it up yet

What do you make of the Future of the Left album, probably the only decent album of the year?
Haven't heard it so couldn't say, will check it out though. To be honest I listen to a lot less guitar music these days than I used to, my interest is more in electronic/experimental music right now as I find it more interesting, I cant say I wholly disagree with your frustration at the state of 'indie' and new guitar based music

+1 to Alt-J, a really really good debut, I hope they continue to make such awkwardly good music.
Ninja Tune have been banging out some brilliant releases this year, the Slugabed record was great and I really enjoyed the Invisible record as well, a much easier listen than the debut but still awesome, im sure there are loads more but I buy too much music so my memory is pretty scrambled...

So what's the plan for the Fang kiddies?
