At Riverside Studios, Crisp Road, Hammersmith
Salute to Eddy Merckx
STOP PRESS: Speakers will include Hammersmith Cyclists Film Show regular Vin Denson, whose memories include racing against (and beating) Eddy Merckx.Films screening this afternoon include: “The Greatest Cycling Champion” (Jemca, France, 1995, 60 mins, narrated Phil Liggett);** “Eddy Merckx in-depth interview with Jimmy McGee” (RTE, Ireland, 1996. 30 mins):
Supporting shorts include: “Notebook from the Tour 2010” (Pascoe, 2010, UK, 35 mins.); “Cycle racing films by the Turner Brothers” (G. and J. Turner, UK, 1972, 30 m).
London's cycling film aficionados return to Riverside Studios to salute Eddy Merckx: the greatest ever racing cyclist. Despite the inevitable controversies around defining ultimate greatness, with the difficulties of comparing riders who had to contend with quite different obstacles to success, there is little doubt about placing Merckx as the all-time number one.
The decider in defining his legendary status is his extraordinary list of victories: Merckx’s palmares is astonishing. He dominated at all branches of road racing: single day Classics, the Grand Tours, both overall and in individual stages, shorter stage races, World Championships **and the hour record. He had a remarkably high “hit rate” of victories for each of the very many races he rode, with little possibility of his numbers of victories ever being equalled. Merckx continues to be a respected commentator on cycle racing, with his legacy to cycle sport felt in various ways.
The films concentrate on the career of “The Cannibal”, with expert commentators, including William Fotheringham, author of numerous books on cycle sport including the forthcoming “Merckx: Half Man,Half Bike” discussing his achievements.(Other speakers TBC)
The supporting programme includes films of the UK racing scene from 40 years ago.Start 1.30 p.m., Sunday January 29th 2012

Wap,
If the chain you lost the pin out of is going free you could let the Hackney Bikeworkshop have it http://www.lfgss.com/thread77728.html it is on tomorrow you could fit the chain there too. Some of our trainees have very little money so it is good to get them mobile by making their bikes work properly.

If it is a new chain presumably it came with a quick link.
The way to get the pin back in is to lay the chain on it side on something hard/solid on its side with the holes of the outer and inner parts of the chain lined up.
Then using a pair of long nose pliers hold the pin over the holes and tap with a hammer.

**Hackney Bicycle Film Society January Show **will be
The Eddy Merkx Story
The story of the rider they called
The Cannibal, who won everything there was to win.The first film, made with Merckx
s full support and input, comprehensively covers his phenomenal career. With a revealing interview throughout, plus fabulous race footage and rare archive film, Merckx tells about his formative years; growing up above a small grocers shop in Brussels, before standing supreme in the peloton from the mid 1960s to the late 1970`s. Merckx gave and demanded total commitment and lived, as the Irish cycling legend Sean Kelly did after him, utterly devoted to the sport. Enjoy in this wonderful film, watching a man of such incredible strength, spirit and self-belief, that when united with tremendous athletic prowess and unbridled ambition, produced a set of results in the sport, that even today, are almost unbelievable.main film will be proceeded by a number of short films

Kryptonite crappy locks I would never buy them.
I had one for about 20 years the only problem with it was the key would fit any similar kryptonite type lock fortunately thieves did not catch on to that. The came the star key locks the thieves did catch on to those all you needed was a bic biro to open then their lock mechanism has always been crap.
Another crap lock is those folding ones did a test one of those recently it snapped really easily.
Yes it is a bottle jack they use not a foldy car jack also a scaffold pole works very well I caught a bloke doing it about 18 months ago he had the cheek to say did I want him to fuck my sister hmm nice piece of work.
