More photos of the free Rossin.. after dismantle and a quick wash..

What would be the correct english word for tubes shaped like that?
The finishing of the frame is not very good.. the decals bubble a bit some places and the paintfilling in the lugs are a not done very good..
If you ever decide to sell/trade that frame then let me know!
Could do with a reason to visit Copenhagen again :) -

Bored on day off.
Realised out of my bikes i ride my fixed most often(more fun, pile of shite so happy to lock up etc) it only cost me £87 to build up inc a couple of parts off last bike.
My surly tourer on the other hand cost an arm and a leg and only gets use on long rides, wet weather missions in london where it will be welcome inside at the destination.
Building a roadie that will prob fall somewhere between the two for cost/use. The tandem doesn't count cos its too awesome. Is this normal? Those of you with several bikes is your most expensive/interesting bike your favourite form of transport or do you ride the first bike you grab as you leave the house?
-
He started with a frame and some bits and bobs(i think) and made a well thought out build and took good quality photographs
You started with a perfectly good, complete and almost original bike. Then ruined it with poorly chosen cheap components of a lower standard than the originals.Finish bike, ride it and htfu.

I'm sure i've seen it or something incredibly similar zip past me in dalston while i was wobbling along lighting a cig while riding. Vines and stuff sound pretty groovy.
I'm sure that someone else on here made themselves a mini frame with mono fork that looked the business(maybe in a polo thread...)
Looks stupidly fun. -

No.
You're wrong. It's only original once. You've fucked it. Not job done. It's morons like you that give cyclists a bad name, what made you think you know better than the guy who designed that bike. Did you save lots of paint chips so the original paint could be matched? No? What a surprise.
New decals are usually not perfect so no. Its not respray+stickers = job done. You made a good bike shit.
Proper hip hop slave fashion victim bike. -
Well i think theres no doubt whatsoever that it looked considerably better before you got your hands on it. Did you grind off the braze-ons as well for extra puppy-kill points?
Well, you're happy with it which is all that matters but seriously, look at the before and after pics, surely you can't think those fucking awful bars, ugly wheels and shitty cheap saddle look better than it did before??!
Ignore grumpy shits like me, just try not to touch a bike again without thinking first. -
-
I couldn't really care less what you do to your bike. It was free at the end of the day and its yours. Just reminds me of people chopping up 3 old cars to make one still shit old hotrod. Somethings permanently fucked with no real benefit to the owner. Still, makes everyone who hasn't fucked their ride slightly better off as the become rarer. Win.
Enjoy your bike, frame geo etc looks good so i'm sure it rides nice.

[QUOTE=dilster101;1028622. I've been wondering recently if I've destroyed a piece of cycling "history" in doing so[/QUOTE]
Removing original paint means you've definately destroyed its history.
Why the fuck does everyone want unbranded generic unipak looking bikes when they start with fantastic original paintschemes reflecting the design and fashion of the age the frame was built.
Always a massive fail imo.
Rant over.
Now go get the decals/og paint reinstated.
Or give me the bike, you dont deserve it. Especially if you're going to fixie-skidder it -
Why on earth did you strip such perfect paint?!
Lovely looking bike, send the frame off to argos so they can redo the paint as in the picture, then polish all the gear bits and put them back on. Then ride and enjoy it.
Yet another puppy killed. But it might not be too late(despite ruining the paint)

Thought i'd share my small experience of an old brooks on here in case it helps.
Got an old b17 that was a little splayed out but not banana'd and with a few shallow looking cracks/hard as nails.
Hadn't found this site at the time and had a quick look on sheldon and classic lightweights, where i also saw how to do a skully-esque chop. Then promptly forgot most of it and made it up as i went along.
First i tried warming it up slightly as has been suggested above, found this didn't really help to shift the wax, more drastic measures required. So i took a sharp penknife and scraped all the crap off, didn't take too much leather off in the process but it also significantly reduced the size of the cracks.
Then performed a chop using a dremel with cutting wheel(the smell of burning leather is not to be underestimated) and used a shoelace to stich the sides instead of a plate or chainlink. Did it a little further forward than i intended but tightening the adjustment bolt just a tad sorted any risk of sag out.
Seemed a little dry at this stage so i rubbed in half a small bottle of extra virgin all over and wrapped in a rag soaked with the other half bottle overnight.
Then scraped the excess oil off with a plastic ruler and buffed for ages with cotton cloth. The cracks are now invisible pretty much and what was originally a dark brown/black rock hard mess of a saddle is now an arrow thin, really soft yet rigid where it should be saddle that i've used on my main bike for a year now.
Saddle - £5(it really looked bad)
Olive oil - £1.50
I have no idea if using olive oil was a good idea, i know i had to wear dark trousers for the first couple of weeks while the last of the oil settled.
I'm chuffed with how it turned out but i have no idea if its relevent to the op's question.
I also have a brand new b17 on my tourer which is still hard as nails. Htfu is the only remedy
