On the subject of Ineos, I heard on the Cycling Podcast that Tao Geoghegan Hart is the leader for the Vuelta. Not seen it announced officially though.
Also, Bardet apparently told AG2R that he was considering quitting racing for good at the end of 2020 (when his contract expires) because of his TdF form. Explains why they've told him to head to the pub and get the pints in early this year then; try to avoid the burnout.

But Ineos have proved that if your riders are playing nicely that you can have multiple team leaders at a GT. I think that works when it's a slightly overcooked Froome and top-form Thomas or a top-form Bernal and a slightly less top-form Thomas but if Froome is fit next year we'll see how friendly Ineos will be.

As in the Guy Martin version of this, the engineering is interesting and the reactions/balls to do it at all (which I certainly would not have) is fair enough but I'd be interested to know how much of a cycling feat it is. I guess all land speed records have a huge engineering element, a good quality of guts/reactions and a small quantity of driving skill.

There's no denying MvdP's strength and skills but I think he's also slightly flattered by picking a limited set of races that work for his strengths. That's not a bad thing but it'd be interesting to see how he goes with a full road season rather than jumping in for stuff that suits him. I'm sure his competitors hope that a full season would slow him down a bit as the prospect of a full season of competing against that sort of strength would be depressing for a lot of other pro riders.

If you're a Red Bull driver, there's really no job security is there? You can't even believe them when they publicly say that you've got the whole season to succeed as invariably that means you've got a couple of races left. Having Toro Rosso means swaps are easy though, and a demoted driver is less likely to kick up a fuss if it keeps them in F1.

The only time I thought the E-W was a factor was the final run into Brest. It was hella stormy. I'm used to fighting headwinds and shit coming from a flat desert but I've not often been blown around with such force for so long. It was kind of a freak weather day though
I spared a thought for the TCR racers on Friday. I'd planned to go for a ride on the way back from a work trip but the 38 degrees plus the high winds anywhere outside the valleys just made it seem like a really bad idea. So I had a couple of beers instead.
Kudos for riding through it.

Was really surprised to see her back as I don't watch much XC these days and half expected she was going to find a new "thing" after her personal issues and the drama around the Swedish national team stuff. Her new Team 31 initiative seems like part of the recovery though which is really good for her.

Wiggins has a competition giving away some tickets if you guess his average watts in a specific TdF TT. I guess Vayer has finally gone over the edge.
