TBH if he's whinging about Ride London riders I could easily imagine people doing that given the number of people pissing in people's hedges in villages to avoid toilet queues.

Looks like AvV destroyed the Giro Rosa. Won the stage with a huge lead, now has huge lead in the race. Considering after stage 4 the lead was 20-odd seconds and after stage 5 it’s over 6 times that, the race is done barring disaster. Got to be depressing for everyone else.

I guess the dropper is to make it easier to get on/off. As for the purpose, who knows, it has the look of a "because I can" sort of thing with the Lauf fork and gearbox.

Someone at work suggested I signed up for it saying I ride indoors. I made the point I don’t do it because I like it, more because it’s hard to want ride outside when it’s below -10 and they said I could just ride indoors all year round. Not sure where to go with that.

I always wonder why they advertise Zwift. Surely if you’re in the market for an indoor training tool you can’t avoid it online and if you don’t want it why do you care.

Not sure the easiest way to get down from where you are but from Leatherhead, ride to Dorking and take the main road west out of town, turn south at Abinger Hammer and go through Peaslake and Ewhurst then to Cranleigh there's minimal climbing over the surrey hills. Depending how close to the start of the Audax you're starting I think Peaslake village stores open at 8 on a saturday if you need to get food/drink.

I think the majority of people I know with obnoxious pickups or suvs generally drive to work and back rather than loading up with tools/wood or going off-road. Last winter a colleague was taking his family on holiday and even though he had the cover for the back of his pickup he was having to cling-wrap his luggage as it leaked so much. For his use it was totally impractical but he said he had it “just in case he needs it”

In all honesty, I think the couple of years of illness and the crash in 2017 have robbed him of his chance of equalling Merckx let alone topping his record. I'd like to see him bounce back before he retires so he can go out on a high but not sure if that's possible.
