I've read the book, which is why personally I find the beatification of him in some circles is strange. His story is tragic but, imo, no more tragic until his ultimate spiral than Jan Ulrich's but not many influential people in cycling seem to be interested in Ulrich today nor rehabilitating him except, perversely, Lance Armstrong.

Fair enough, the Walton thing was more a flippant comment. That said, more seriously, why Pantani rather than Armstrong, Super Mario, Ulrich etc. Is it just that Pantani died in pretty shitty circumstances so we can rewrite his narrative without the complexity of the actual person being around?

It's the sort of thing you buy thinking it might be good but lives on a shelf scowling at you for about 14 years and 6 moves between flats/houses. I had something similar. It even moved from London to Luxembourg with me. Still here. Looking menacing.

Honestly though, given the Pantani multiple releases, I doubt they care about that era of doping. I'm more inclined to think the Waltons have some sort of personal beef with Armstrong than they disapprove of his cheating.

100% correct... Two of the mounts had popped loose but the helmet looks completely normal and feels normal now I put them back.

After my crash yesterday there's some scratches. I don't think it's serious as I didn't land on my head, but I think when I rolledit scraped a little on the rim by my forehead. Anyway; it's a SPIN version of a POC helmet (their since stopped MIPS alternative).
Does anyone know if the MIPS/SPIN is multi-use or just a one-shot as stuff definitely came unstuck a little.

Cheers. It's all carbon... Winspace SLC frameset and bars. Rides okay but once I'm less sore (or the tramadol kicks in), I'll have a look at screws, bolts etc and strip the damaged bar tape to see if there's any obvious cracks or flex anywhere.
Had xrays etc and the injuries are minor; I'm not young any more so I'm sure I'll feel it tomorrow. TBH, we were both lucky. The other guy was 78 so I'm sure if I'd hit him rather than the rear triangle at that speed he'd have had more to worry about than the financial loss (it was a V1-R rim-brake that was killed) and I could have broken bones easily enough.

In my work experience when I was 14 I went to British Aerospace in Brough and I had to rivet parts for the AV8B and work on wiring looms for the Tornado. Seemed silly at the time, and in retrospect.
