*Clem, you don't even wear a facecage!
*^HA. that's kind of true. i Wear a 1/2 bottom cage, who make me avoid most of the hit. Right now if I get hit in the hole a have, i will call that a birdie.
I see my point is not good because of some good reasons. Sometime you put your face at the wrong place, and sometime players shoot like dumb people.
Anyway I prefere still armor myslef.
About the rule i find also really weird to say that you could smash people head because they shouldn't be there. For me that's like the shaft shot they allowed in the ruleset. Because they think that's too harde sometimes to know if that's shaft or head, they allowed shaft shot. Because they think that most of the shoot are big swing, they allow bigswing everywhere on court or face. I would love to see contextual rules instead of creating big hole in the ruleset like that. Yes you can swing as strong as you can, but if there is people around, you can get call for it, even without touching someone, etc...My opinion is just, people should go back to facecage, because you never know what happens and can predict anything. I get hit so many times that i wear my cage for every pick up. The most stupidest was falling from the top of the 1m25 board right on the mouth at Avoriaz 2012, and it just broke my cage fixation instead of my nose and two or three theets.
And yes Helmets with cage as not so easy to get, but you can find some withtout so much problem, especially in NA. About the vision, im pretty sure you get a worst vision by loosing an eye.

Jono in that case that specific case that's friendly hit, so who get the ball back?
And yes Faces cages have nothing to do with the high stick rule now. That's why i wasn't talking about this rule. But if you want, yes you could get the ball back and even put the guilty player out for 30 sec or 2 min, it won't help so much if you looking back for your theets from the ground, or get to the hospital to get stiches.(happens in konstanz this year, and at piks last week end). Also biggest hit are really incindentals and don't fall into the "dick" section in my opinion (look at the example above) or every time you get hit in the pass. That's 80% swing who goes to far or start to high.
Im not tellin' that mallet-to-body shouldn't be a foul. (most of the time, you get hit several time in the hands, ass or ribs in game, and when they happens, that's mostly never called, same when you wear a face cage and that a hit happen, game continue). My point is more about the materiel issue who happens. That's a bit like when you bike is fallin' appart and you constantly asking for time out. At one point people said that's enough, get a propper set up and stop delaying games, i think that's should be the same about protection gear. Regardless if that's a foul or not.
I understand that is hard to make a clear distinction between what is a good protecting gear equipement or not, but we have mandatory helmets, so why no mandatory face cage?
All that for me is because im pissed of seing back the no-face cage trend on court. That's the player choice to play without him, but it shouldn't be he's right to delaying the game because of something he can avoid easily.Edit:
Ball in the head can also happen every time. -
Thank you so much LBP for this tournament.
This was a blast. I never seen a court construction going so well and so fast. First time it seems to have enough drill to be efficient. The pre-event communication for volunters was great too, easy to fallow and to get quick answers. Thanks everybody who was involved in that!Courts where great, even the smaller ones. Location is gorgeous. Schedule on time even with fuckin' rain the whole day. Streaming for the last day, woop.
Games was fun to watch and play, glad to see mixed teams going far and take it, glad to play some good organized teams as SB. Our games was both fun to play. Congrat' to MagicWay for their win. Lovely to see emmet back on court. Thanks to will for picking me, and to Alex and Hugo who let luca play with us.
eletric showroom was maybe funnier with normal people.
nice to see london again, and londonian too.
Can't wait for next year.

You would be happy to ignore someone getting a mallet to the face in order to carry on your game of bike polo without knowing if he was ok?!?
I didn't say we shouldn't stop the game for checking people heath. But when it's done game should restart ASAP.
Im Just sayin' than gettin' huge delay because of people thinking they are good enough to ride and play without face cage is bullshit. If you think you can play without protecting gear, then you should assume the fact that the game can continue whitout you if you get hurt in a way that can be avoided easily.
Anyway, all that for saying that people should wear face cages.

We have to learn how to make proper check, i saw some like Ryan or Emmet gettin' in a really cleary elbow along their ribs to make it safer as possible, we should learn to make it like that every way. Cause right now the checking thing is all sketchy and i suprised myself to put elbows mostly because i don't really know how to make a proper check.
About reffing, honnestly i really don't know how it's gonna be reffed, it looks so hard to see sometimes. -
M. Do begin to upload NA's 2013 games, whouhou!

What Jono said, until we have a rule who prevent them or who allow bike on bike, this is a foul. If rayan was close enough to proper body check him it would have been ok.
If you look at the entire game, we spend most of the time by cuting people line by riding in front, forcing them or to turn, or to brake, or to dab/crash. Don't know if that's the way the game should go or not, but there is still no rules against it but one exist against initiating a bike on bike contact. When people who play like that are on court you have to adapt your play to them, I run into jono at Karlsruhe this year because he ride at last moment in front of me, both hands on bar, I was riding heads down, I dabbed( crashed) he didn't , it could have been a foul from myself if jono have foot down on that. But usually ref didint blow the wistle against a guy whos on the floor. I had the same at Bristol, running straight into cam who was in front of me ( I can't say for how long as I was head down), Jesse who reffed the game properly called it a t-bone beacause cam dab', even I was leaning on court, bike bended, it was still my bad.
I don't know if that's perfect right now, but I would adapt my play to that, by riding bit slower and heads up.Anyway, rayan foul is really not a big one, but I don't think SB should have win momentum from that move, as beagle was suggested in his first post about it.

final is already here:
London Open 2013 Final on Vimeo
Luca's goal is probably one of the best solo goals i've seen since a long long time.
My version of the final, filmed by piks who drop weedsmoke in front of the objective won't be online before a while, as the file is too big i have to edit it.
About the t-bone, i won't argue for ages. For me initiating a contact is the definition of pushing your bike in someone else bike. There is no rule saying you have the priority on court to keep a line by riding in the guy in front. No rule saying you don't have the right to cutting in front of someone else.Until the rule change, what Rayan doing is initiating a contact (dangerous or not, who knows) who "affect the play", he won the ball by this contact.
Ho, and the pics you post only show that will was in front of Rayan when he get hit, and that Antonio have a really weird cap.
-
The responsability of a t-bone is from the guy who didn't succed to stop before hiting someone. Period. Otherwise every time a guy took a turn in front of you, just bike check him by riding straight and claim he was on your way.
edit: i know that mayeut didn't blow the wistle for that, just saying that the momentum that coventry was talking about was coming from a[n almost] clear t-bone for me.
"Ryan even attempted to stop to avoid crashing into Will."
Yep, so he crashed into will. That's my idea of a foul. Regardless the fact that you was trying to avoid it or not. -

John how Tight the schedule will be in the actual 4 games per teams on one day? Would be lights on the court?
You said it's possible to gain one hour by playin some games on Friday but not enough to make it to 5 Swiss rounds. So why don't keep it to 4 and play these early games on Friday to gain extra time for some schedule issues? Are we sure we won't get rain as last year? In 2012 Both tournaments finished in a pretty dark light and one hour would have been a good thing to get.
If the schedule isn't tight in the actual scenario, forgett my com.
-
Why don't keep the actual court build schedule? Like that we can have a full day with three courts for pick ups on Friday no? And you already get a lot of people who agreed to work on Thursday.
Edit/ forget that I'm dyslexic about English way to say Thursday, an I often read Friday as if it mean Thursday..
So for example, when you try to reach to and hook Paulo's mallet against call me daddy, he can't put his mallet (who's is pretty long) every time on your face? We should always play far from players with big reach because they can hit you every time?
