Last Wednesday Vicky was there playing by herself for I don't know how long. I showed up at around 6.55 and the kids at the same time, when we lost the court. Feckless hipsters started rolling in after 7.... If we get there earlier, we stand a chance of getting the court, but it needs six of us for 6.30, perhaps...

Thanks for another awesome tourney Brizzle. Sunday ran mega-smooth and I think those courts are the UK's best. Wish we could play there more often!
Gutted to lose out to 5G at the end; maybe I shouldn't have tried to fuck Chan... They gave Sprink Fake a better run out than we did anyway.
I was just happy to be Chris Pickering's hero for the day.
I can't wait for the video now!

**Rear Wheel: **Surly 135mm fixed/free silver hub, 36h, handbuilt by my Fairy-soft hands in crow's foot patterning for extra coolness, Mavic A119 rim, best for 28-50c tyres. The bearings are smoothish (but not buttery) with no play, and the rim has about 1mm left before the wear-line disappears. £30
I still have this. Rim is wide though.

Polo (Paul) slashed my mallet backwards so hard it went under my front wheel and flipped me off. I consider this a mallet under wheel and a slash its a ball turnover at least. It being france and a world champ i'm sure you will fall off your chair to hear no one said a thing. Polo did at least say "are you ok, Brendeen?" Which was nice.
Didn't this happen at the Euros/Worlds and there was a video clip and resultant lengthy discussion about it (same [French] player, different victim)? I think in that instance the perp's teammate scored a goal so quickly that the ridiculous foul got ignored... It probably changed the course of world history.

My mate in Bristol says there's (ghetto) camping near the courts, St Werburghs, behind the climbing wall. It sounds like the place that people were discussing earlier - "hippies, trance-mushroom-freaks and cider punks" is how he describes it, which I think presents a whole lot of synergy with the bike polo community.
To me it sounds like a music festival. Except under an inner-city bridge. If there's a bunch of you it'll be fine, surely...?

Mine is fine. Brake mounts far better aligned than my Chaiwanese and somewhat 'respectable' Cotic.
I've only worked on a few Marinos/Hijas but in my experience huge manufacturers and custom builders also make mistakes. The difference with most custom builders is that they will work with you to resolve them. And with big manufacturers, a reputable shop should catch those problems before they even reach a customer.
IMO Marinos/Hijas are amazing for the money, but if he's going silent and ignoring errors then they'll probably become less ubiquitous.

Neil rode on my coat tails and stood on my shoulders at the same time. He's pretty flexible...
Bristol tournament
I have space in my car, coming back to Brum on Saturday afternoon/evening (1 space), going down Sunday (2 spaces) and coming home Sunday (1/2 spaces, I don't know yet). Anyone want to join?
It usually costs £15 total each way in petrol, so divide by the number of passengers and do the sums yourself. Either way, much cheaper than those fools who travel by train. Plus, my car takes you back to Stirchley, where everyone lives anyway.

Fair. I didn't mean it from a 'poor Vicky' perspective. I just mean if we can get there for 6.30pm, prompt, we might keep the court for 2.5 hours, rather than arrive at 7, wait an hour, play for an hour... I can probably get there from 6.30 tomorrow, but in the future I'll be working until gone-7pm, so no dice there.
