yeah, my problem is i'm already as tight as tight can be, so i'd prefer to spend the money/time mtbing requires on polo and road riding. don't get me wrong, i love mountain biking, but i only really think it's worthwhile if you're willing and able to drive long distances, so i only do it once or twice a year.
it's getting similar to snowboarding for me now, i love to do it more than almost any other pastime, but it's just not practical or good value for money when you live in brum!

would be ace if the money was available... could be cheaper in the long term to hire, depending on how often you were planning on surfing/mtb'ing.
or just find a mate with a van and butter him up. not literally. especially not if he's vegan.
getting a van for trips to wales/lakes/scotland takes an already expensive hobby and makes it stupidly costly. 2-10k to buy a van, 1-2k per year running costs and you haven't even bought/maintained a big-ass mtb yet!!!
mountain biking (not road riding), is the new golf...

im actually after the tiagra one , not the 105 one!
MUST be the white one as well.
The 63cm one has a 60cm TT and is 61cm tall (centre to top) - so its only 1cm taller than my current singlespeed bike, and the same length.
the 60cm is actually 58cm tall!!!
yeah my genesis 60cm has something like a 57cm seat tube! my biggest bugbear is that headtubes just aren't long enough when you get to the bigger sizes (they don't grow proportionally) which means taller people have to live with a more aggressive position, which is just bollocks.
this isn't just true of cannondale, every brand i know does it, and 'sportive' geometries don't go nearly far enough...
a 6ft 5" copper came in with a boardman he'd been sold at halfords, which was 57.5cm, and i measured his seat-bar drop at 14cm, twice that of lance armstrong!!!

@pastry - caad 9 stocks are really low now, but 63cm is huge, so you might be in luck and find one somewhere. i'd call around and see - tiagra isn't much worse than 105 in my opinion, so i'd be felxible on that...
if you give me a text or call the shop on tuesday, i'll call the distributors and see if they have any left.

UPDATE:
the route is outside my front door - saw lee sail through on a solo breakaway about 7.30, and dan about 15 mins later in a pacy group. i wonder if dan will bridge the gap...
so many people crawling past my window on mtbs, poor-fitting roadbikes and bolt-upright hybrids, it's ace!
good luck everyone!

myself, 'scarily fast' pete and hopefully dan (pistaboy) are heading out for on a 3hr loop tomorrow (monday) morning, 9am, start from my house in stirchley.
probably go for a leisurely 15mph average or so, around countryside south of birmingham.
any saturday workers/students/layabouts/job-dodgers wanna join? send me a pm, or text me if you have my number.

i use 38" i think, but most people seem to hover around 40" (there's a whole thread about this on the polo forum).
with a gear that low you tend to spin out going for the jousts, but at all other times you have so much more control and acceleration. but it is a massive ball-ache riding from stirchley to highgate on such a gear...

topeak road morph pump - £15 (rrp £30)
has a pressure guage and flexible hose so you don't snap presta valve heads. works like a mini-track pump (fold out foot lever thing).
