Hi, I heard about this ride last weekend at the memorial and it sounds great, especially if it would be a follow up to doing the tour of wessex. I might be able to pull a long time riding partner into it too.
i would do it geared, but I need to do some long training rides, probably on my fixed, would anyone be up for joining me on a sunday for a spinning session. I have pretty much no knowlege of which way out of london is best for a training ride, but I would like to do about 50-60 miles, it's been a while since I did anything of such length, but should be fiiiine... -

shit sorry. i think that a decent pair of shorts will help you out a bunch getting to paris without a ruined bum crack. the first time (2years ago) i ever got onto a bike i got a pair of 20quid dhb shorts. i caught the train to lancaster and rode back to preston (about 25 miles) my arse killed.
i spent about 65 quid on some assos shorts and started to build up the miles, no arse pain since, same seat.
i now put in 100mile+ training rides in one of a few pairs of sugoi shorts (i dont pay for) that cost around £120. no problems as all. i would really suggest getting some shorts of decent quality.in my opinion.
+1
evryone likes different things, i agree with the nice shorts.
It may be possible without, but it's a lot nicer with. -

plenty of climbing in ToW. you'll be off the saddle a lot anyway ;)
highlights: going down cheddar gorge and seeing the sth coast!!!
Cheddar Gorge was my home hill for a while....epiiiiic
The only time I ever used the triple was when I hit THAT hairpin up. It's a total wall.
Is it a descent, not a climb on the wessex? -

quick question, have you thought about getting a cyclefit? I think it be useful than changing saddle.
I worked at Tri Uk for a while and fitted bikes there. A lot of it is pretty common sense-stem length is crucial, along with drop with and depth. I'd also suggest a wing drop like the easton (although it's pretty deep if you ride down a lot) would be the most comfortable option for a longer ride. I'm not going to go into a full guide but I think it's true that you should get this right, regardless of saddle.
I miss playing with these...2008 Cervelo P3 on Flickr - Photo Sharing! -
I tried an Arione and loathed it.
I have one on my geared racing bike and love it. Having so much forwards and back movement open to you makes everything easier-right forward for sprinting, loads of leverage, etc, right back for climbing over the bb and wedging yourself onto the bike.
I honestly noticed a power increase from the better position it gave me over a normal shape selle italia saddle I had on there before. And they're a lot comfier too, you get enough, but not too much flex from the wings. For sure it's a subjective thing, chosing a saddle, but I personally love mine. Also, you could possibly borrow it for a couple of days if you want to try it out? For a few beers?

this is a great idea
but shouldnt everyone just group together and get a load of jackets and spray, then whenever we see one riding on our day to day buisness we can don the jacket, clipboard ect. and paint it
otherwise your never going to really spray enough?lfgss task force gogogo!
this is an great idea. There's a couple of potholes on camberwell highstreet that are utterly ridiculous, really deep...
