This new one is a Japan import with nicer case and strap.

Just picked up this explorer copy. Really like it for the money .

Lovely frames those marins, had a few when I started riding and my gf has one as a daily beater .
These were reasonably high in the the , and the ones I have had have been ox platinum or something similar . Made by true temper I believe, and a double butted Cromoly. Not super light , but super tough .

Agreed a deal over the weekend for the Merckx on classified at £350 , only to be told today ( as was hoping to pick up tonight ) no deal anymore as he has accepted the full asking from someone else . He seems fine with this , justification being I negotiated a discount and he has been messed about before on this forum . Hmm …

Okay , I hear what you saying, could be an easy fix then with some soft jawed pliers or a circular file at that point , just got the sort of stress you need on such a purchase .

But yes maybe get Maestro to fix it . I remember my mate can around with a brand new Gios Torino , years and years . Asked me to fix the rear brake rubbing, which was not going to happen as they had drilled the rear brake callipers bolt on the piss ..

Problem with my Merckx was someone had tightened the seat clamp , without a post in it , and all of the rubbing was coming from the top of the seat cluster as you have kinda alluded to. I fixed mine by levering with a big screwdriver , but the smart fix is to put a bolt through and have it push against a flat washer inside of the seat cluster slot if that makes sense , will need a slim nut on the bolt also inside the gap. So effectively you are able expanding it ..

Definitely fork crown mounted canti hanger , much less chance of brake judder :)
