On a recent visit to London I popped into 14 and asked if they knew Oscars whereabouts as I used to skate with him when I lived there (and showed him how to skid a fix:)) The ginger girl behind the counter spoke to me like a piece of shit and when I asked pancake his eyes never left the computer screen and was given a less than hospitable answer.........BLB have always answered any q's with a smile.

hey,
Just purchased this bike on egay. Want to make it singlespeed but don't know where the hell to start + i'm an epic Luddite when it comes to making stuff. Anyone got recommendations of bike shops (my lbs are pirates) that take on refurb/conversion jobbies? And also what sort of cost would I be looking at? I'm happy keeping it rough and ready so no need for a paint job.
Where are you based. You could always bring it in to the Oxford cycle workshop if you're near! Boxes and boxes and crates of second hand gear as well as all the correct fixed/singlespeed new bits to choose from.........And way cheaper then anywhere in the universe. -

^^Yeah, this is true, but if you get the tension of the chain taught the first time round then I've found it tends to stay on ok. If MatP wants a taste of riding fixed without altering/butchering a beautiful road frame I'd advise this route. If fixed is for you MatP it won't be long before you swap this out for a suitably 'dropped out' frame. And make a roadie happy;)
