TBH, I found the DA pads to be crap (especially in the wet). By coincidence I replaced the worn-out greens on my old 6600 calipers only last week and have fallen in love with their stopping power all over again. YMMV 'n all that...

I have DA and old Ultegra calipers on a couple of bikes - swapping the pads from Shimano DA for Swiss Stop greens made the world of difference (in a +ve direction).

Don't know how Specialized size up, but SIDI are small - I go up 1.5 from street shoes.

Big thanks to Hoke and Howard for a great pre-Xmas blast. I took the bail-out-at-Cambridge lite option so am currently thoroughly enjoying a nice warm train carriage all to myself (strangely)... the possibilities are endless. Good ride back chaps...

Fair point - just trying to see if I can get closer to my (24/28) road wheels in terms of weight. The current 32H track wheels on my SS "everyday bike" have been solid as a rock - but they're not light.

The low weight and 28H drilling is attractive but there doesn't seem much web chatter about them in use. Looking for some decent hubs without having to go for relatively heavy, high spoke count Phils etc..?

If anyone's half thinking about these I can highly recommend them. They transformed my BJ from a nice ride into a truly lovely ride... big smiles... without changing the classic lines of a skinny frame.

I've had one of these in the past - rides very nicely. Essentially a Flyer with (I believe) a slightly longer wheel base. Rack mounts etc make it a great commuter. GLWS.

I've got a Shimano Ultegra 10spd wheel (think it's an old R550?) in the shed. I used to run this on my turbo before replacing it with another I retired from my road bike. Cosmetically v. clean but hub needs a bit of attention as it's a bit gravelly - a squirt of grease will probably do the job. I'd hesitate to recommend it for using on the road, but fine for the turbo - take it for nowt if any good to you, or a middling bottle of port if you're feeling generous... I'm in Brixton.

Plenty to be looking at there - cheers. Yeah... I was looking for road rather than track forks. It's for a Bob Jackson and would like minimal decals so will probably end up looking at the Minimal or Tusk?

Can anyone recommend a decent, understated 1 1/8" carbon fork that would look OK on a steel frame? This is mostly to reduce weight, and I'm trying to avoid deep bladed road forks that just look fugly on a skinny frame. Ta.
