i think the barrels issue is a design flaw, ive seen several of these wanted... anyway i had the same problem with the barrel. so i have one left and i should still have shoes. i can check when i get home.

ok this is ridiculously unclear. looking to add the Tubus Clampset for mounting a carrier on seat stays without eyelets and you need to specify the desired lenght:

Art.-No: 71614, for 14 mm (diameter of the seat stays)
Art.-No: 71616, 16 mm
Art.-No: 71618, 18-19 mm
Art.-No: 71621, 21-22 mm
Art.-No: 71624, 24-25 mm

i just measured the diameter of the stays, by cutting a piece of wrapped isolation tape exactly to length so that it goes perfectly around the stay and measured the tape with ruler. ruler says length of tape is 40mm so whats going on. surely the mercian (531) above doesnt have unusually wide seat stays. has anyone here used these and found this weird too or am i being really stupid.

i ve been on the lookout for stem with hole but havent found any. zbay?

Ed i think that bug has been incubating in the forum for a while, caught it too. for the moment 2speed nuovo record groupset, mafac racers with mafac front rack.sheldons page on them is great btw. using the mercian i just picked up from Mario, from the 1975 though not 50s.

In the US cars coming to a junction with the intention of turning right dont have to wait at the red lights. Well that makes sense if you are in a car right, but a bike is much less likely to be seen in low light conditions and especially by eyes that are yet (hopefully) not used to looking out for bikes (Non-NY american). So if you are riding the bike going at your good commuting pace and come to a junction and you have green light, would u move to the inner lane? Whats the chance of not being seen? For cycling i can only see this law being annoying when i move over to LA next year.

make sure the mercian have the clearance to though, and the panaracer tyres are fine, I have the 28c version on my faux-randonneur (road bike with fatter tyres + front rack), the missus have 25c and my dad have the 28c.

the tyres is fine, my dad rode his everyday doing 150 miles a weeks, it still held strong despite a couple of puncture (which were his fault for riding too close to the kerbs).

ok TG it is then. but 28 or 32. i've measured the clearance to make sure the 40mm fenders can fit between the fork bridge. i am guessing that both will fit, the angles are pretty loose.

ok i am building a tourer/randonneur bike on a mercian frame. thinking about going for 28 or 32C tires with gum wall. whats best? panaracer TG dont get the best reviews mainly not seen as the durable tire, what are your experiences and what would you go for. going for gilles berthoud 40mm mudguards so both sizes could fit. i have been breaking my head what to buy for weeks ...help.. pls
