Could you not have fixed the basket for her tho?
indeed, and i offered this...but turns out a rear rack and basket was preferable to her. win. win.
and i did give her a "got car door'd" discount too on the labour....(we are indeed very nice people do deal with, in case you had any suspicions...ha!)

mine will soon look even more like yours...mudguards to be fitted, and a pair of tubus racks for touring.
pretty happy with this bike - rides really well. a suitable replacement for my long haul trucker.

"No matter how hard it tries to deceive, it's not a Pinarello"

rather than start another thread. i am picking up a cross check frame today.
it will not be built to look beautiful, just work and be purely functional for the kind of riding i want to do (touring).
Parts are a mix of what i had already, some stuff from work cheap, and a few nicer bits i have bought.
still waiting on some stuff to arrive, living in Canada with its tiny bicycle market can get annoying ordering from the big internet shops in the UK. (lighter colour is ordered, but not arrived).

For sale is my Surly Long Haul Trucker (26” wheel), 54cm. This bike has been used on two tours (Manchester to Windsor and LEJOG) and for some general commuting. I was always intending to do more on it but it never happened, now I have moved away.
Geometry here: http://surlybikes.com/bikes/long_haul_trucker

THE BIKE IS IN OXTED, SURREY. (I am in Canada, but you can meet my Dad at his house for test rides or purchase).
PHOTOS SHOW A THOMPSON SEAT POST AND A SADDLE– THIS IS NOT AVALIABLE, either I can order an inexpensive (GBP9.99) 27.2 post, or you can take one along to test ride – you will have to let me know on this.
The bike was built up by me with a Deore 9 speed groupset (a few exceptions):
I wanted to run 8 speed, so it has an 8 speed shimano cassette, KMC chain, and “no name” shimano rapid fire style shifters (at time of purchase Deore was 9 speed). It works perfectly and smoothly like this. By changing the shifters, chain and cassette you can run 9 speed if you desire.
Wheels were handbuilt by Merlin cycles in Leyland, Deore XT hubs, mavic 717, 32hole. Strong and true.
The photos show that the bike generally needs a clean (taken on a visit home this summer with very little time), there are a few tiny marks on the frame here and there as you would expect.
It has the words “LEJOG aug 2010” and “the mule” (its name) written on the top tube with sharpie – easy to rub off with some alcohol. This is the nicest bike that I have ever owned, in terms of comfort and ride quality.
A complete build (of much lower quality parts) retails at around 950.
I would like 550 for this. Please contact me on here or on chapman.chris at hotmail.co.uk
I ALSO HAVE A TUBUS REAR RACK (CARGO, SILVER) FOR IT THAT CAN BE ADDED TO THE SALE IF YOU WISH for 40 quid.
cheers, Chris.

incase people are wondering...you put that inside the sleeping bag btw.
it means that you actually use the insulation in the bottom side of the bag as it isnt just squashed flat under your body. cleaver design.not used one - interesting to hear some feedback.
i tried a neoair that i borrowed from work the other week. amazing. -
