Correct .
Also, it never goes above 23.5 degrees N so it is always to the South of us.
@Lurker103 - what exactly is the watch asking for?
All it is asking me to do is set whether the sun traverses towards the north or the south. It's not something I've ever really thought about before.
@Pajamas: Sorry to burst your bubble, I splashed out and paid a tenner! Here it is:

It also tells me the moons cycle and when high and low tide is.At this point I'd like to just make it clear that I was just after a cheap watch and the rest is all extra stuff. It's just got me interested now because I don't know what it's on about!
-
I know this may sound like a stupid question, but I assure you that it's not!
I know that the sun goes East to West from sunrise to sunset, but which way does it traverse in a north-south manner in England? I've got a new watch and it's asking me to put details in. I think it will allow me to tell where north is by using my watch by looking at the sun.
Any info about this manner would be much appreciated. -

Sorry MessenJah. I realise we all like different things. I can understand what you mean. I went into Woolies today and they have 1-2cup cafetieres in there for cheap. Might be good for the loose tea leaves.
I'm currently sitting down to a lovely Blueberry Muffin Rooibos from my tea pot and in a beautifully hand crafted, wood kilm fired (for 4 days and nights) handle-less cup. It's small so I'll have 2-3 cups of tea from it. Yum. -
Depends how bad you fall and whether you're expecting it or not. I most certainly was not expecting it and fell pretty hard. I hurt and my chin's got a big gash in it. So it's knockec my confidence in the wet now. This week seems to be especially moist meaning that it's incredibly slippy on the roads.
I don't think our tyre choice or psi is the problem, I blame it on the road surfaces. Get London to sort all of their roads out and we'll be sorted :-D -

Well I tried a few places, including all 6 charity shops on Camden High Street (which, by the way, are a rip off!) and woolies and found nothing that I could use as a time piece. I did find loads of other things like tools and so on though! I ended up at Argos and looked at the immensly cheap £4.99 watch\/

which really wasn't very comfortable, so I decided to look at the Casio watches knowing that they are pretty much bomb proof and fit me well.
Anyway... I ended up with this\/

which was £9.99 instead of £23. So, even though I paid more than I was intending to, I feel like I got a fairly decent spare watch that should last many moons when it is required. -

How have I not noticed this thread before? I LOVE TEA!
I'm having a tea party with my fella when he gets in, I've made scones and we have nice biccies and fondant fancies and a selection of lapsang, darjeeling, earl grey and kenya tea
I also picked up one of these babies after finding it in sainsburies

Re the tea pot above /\, these are great but I would suggest one thing: Get one that has a proper spout coming from near the bottom not a lip from the top. This stops any of the floaty bits going into your tea. Almost all teas (especially if using bags straight into cups) leave a film layer on the top. Which is not the nicest bit, so the spout from lower down stops this. I still drink with bag straight from the cup if I'm being lazy, but when you're doing the nice stuff it's best to do it right;-)
Here's the one I have and I got it from TKMaxx for about £10 \/. It may just have been a lucky find, but I would imagine similar will still be available a some places.

It's the same as this one \/ but with a china outer rather than glass.

@MessenJah: BE A MAN. Either drink more tea, invites some friends to drink with you or pour the rest away. You don't need to use any more tea leaves to add a couple of small cups, so just add a little more water. I don't know what size cups you use, but a litre wouldn't fill more than 3 of mine. You obviously need bigger cups!

I lost the front end yesterday and chinned myself right infront of a bus coming the other way. Got to go to the docs this morning to get oit checked out. Again, the helmet pretty much saved me. I took a pretty big hit to the head and it would have been a hell of a mess if I hadn't been wearing my skid lid.
WEAR A HELMET KIDS! -
I've lost the front end 3 times so far this winter. It really pisses me off because it knocks your confidence, and stops riding being fun.
(i need some) modulation, for the nation.
It's shit when your confidence gets a shock like that. For the first time in a while I didn't enjoy my ride home. I rode pretty slowly and cautiously just 'cause my face hurts!

just finishing up my pug build, had similar issues with the seatpost, had the original one from the frame but it was fairly short and knackered. managed to find this site which does a 22.2mm acor microadjust bmx one that is just right when shimmed up a bit.
http://www.greyville.com/products/3871
the acor logo'll polish off nicely with a bit of elbow grease too
Screw the seatpost, we want to see pics of the pug!
@MePower: Good on ya. Seems to work pretty well. I love anything bodged and not bought! :-D

See if you have the patience to view all the photos for this USD 1400 bike
What the hell is wrong with this guy?! It's like he's just bought a new digi camera and can't bear to decide which photo's were the best to put on. He definitely wasn't being charged per pic, like they do in the UK!

I had my first comment about brakes today. I ride with a front brake, but that doesn't stop some people!
I was riding to work and it was pretty slippy earlier. I was riding along as a bus decided to pull out towards me on the other side of the road. I promptly back pedaled and decided a little of the front brake would help me slow down quicker. My front wheel slid out and I took a hit to the tarmac. It wasn't very pleasant but I wear a skid lid, so that saved me. I collected my bike and stepped onto the curb to assess the damage. My bike was fine and I only took a chunk out of my chin. A moped rider pulled over and asked if I was OK, I said I was and off he went. Then, from the other side of the road, a lorry was waitng and the driver leant out of the window and shouted "You'd be better with a back brake".
I was seriously pissed with him, having just taken a pretty big fall, all he could say was that I should have had a rear brake. I don't remember what I said to him but I wasn't about to explain the whole fixed gear set up.
Some people really should just keep to themselves sometimes. -
thanks for reply,
def gonna build it over the next few months...i have been looking on ebay/gumtree at track frames only, but haventhad much luck yet...i'm looking for a black one only..budget will be around 250pounds...prob gonna get new wheels...deep v's or alex rims (white) with blue tyres = trick! Theother componets will be second hand and cheap. is it hard to convert verticaldrops to horizontal without getting the ol welder out?
In a word, Yes! Don't get vertical dropouts. There's noting wrong with using a road frame and it might be cheaper to find an old road bike as a full bike than a track specific frame on it's own. As far as the colour goes, you might end up waiting a while for a black one to come up. Wheels are definitely worth getting new. Cheapest deep rim track wheels will be around the £120mark and more if you want nice ones and so on.
I like the sound of it though. Good luck with it all. -
Hi, newborn here too, sorry to butt in on this thread, but still in the nursery stage of the forum, so have to post my minimum 5. Just thought while some of you were Pug posin, i would lob mine out. And yes it is a 24mm post, dura ace do one from a few years back, because its an odd size some lbs might have them cheap.
That's a very nice looking pug. I didn't know you could run chain tensioners like that. Has it got paint on it or is it raw?

Very helpful considering the current weather. But very nice never the less.
