Thanks for the advice.
The email you quoted above looks like a follow on to this email:
2014 Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 - ACTION REQUIRED-Start details and Transport Options
Which (for me) has the start times. Thanks mate found the email in mrs inbox.
Fking bad news though. Start time 8.02. Great. I'll be right at the back. No chance to get in with a good group. We shall see!

^^ avoid all this bullshit by going clockwise* :)
*the other trick, of course, is to be faster than the nodderton. Unfortunately this is not an option open to everyone.
will definitely be doing this next time. i must admit to seeing literally the odd one or two people going the other way. never really understood why this was! i've just always gone anti....
doesn't matter if you really boot it, as you'll inevitably have to stop. the only chance to get any distance up is on the slight upwards drag heading north as there's quite some distance before hitting the first light by the zoo.

was out last night. it was carnage. seriously like 'what... what the...what the FUUUUCK'. so much terrible riding on display.
whats the etiquette for bunch riding? i've always been happy with riding with randoms round there and don't care if they wheel suck all night. you usually end up with similar paced people and get a good spin going.
but last night i ended up behind one bloke (tom boonen build and look alike) and he did a massive nose clearance (you know put a finger on your nostril then blow out) and it literally went all over me and the guy who was passing on the right. i was like wtf was that about. does he think that's something the pros do to each other? what a complete tool. he wasn't even fast. hope he gets a lot of use out of that power meter. -
some shocking cycling last night in regents park.
went down there for a late spin and somehow kept ending up in a 25+ strong peloton. by the time you got up a bit of momentum with a good group you'd hit a red light then get swarmed by everyone. i saw all sorts. queue drag race take off from the lights, people wobbling about in young gears, stopping suddenly the lot.
guy in a red specialised allez deserves special mention. going up the inside of a car turning left on that sharp left dog leg by regents park tube end causing him to beep, you stop and then realise whats going on. yes i told you what not to do. what a twat.
also there was some dude who could have been tom boonens double. full rapha, colnago get up with SRM. thought he was the business and wasn't even going fast. everytime he came to the front he'd clear his nose into everyone behind. wtf is that about? is that normal?! u did 4 laps then got dropped by everyone you stuck up twat with your SRM.

I'm hoping for 5hrs. Will see, haven't trained properly at all.
Worried about getting stuck in (cyclist) traffic so planning on hammering it to begin with.personally based on last year's experience i wouldn't hammer it to begin with. just not worth it. i started at the back and the traffic wasn't that bad. still got under 5 hours. i'd save energy for later once it opens up

However, climbing is all about power to weight and I have lost the best part of 6kg since arriving state side 5 weeks ago so perhaps it would all be ok.
wtf 6kgs! you out there in a concentration camp!?
nice write up i enjoyed it. i could particularly emphasise with the part about being under pressure to fix a flat and get grubby hands. i now keep a surgical glove in my saddle bag which helps a lot.
very lucky getting some miles in whilst you're over there, very jealous!
