Definitely suggest a folding bag rather than a hard case..
Not trying to commandeer the thread - but would you say the same air travel? I need to take my back on a plane soonish and I was pretty worried about the baggage handlers getting all handly with my goods. Though maybe a hard case or an extremely padded one might be best. Any others survived with a soft case?
Does anyone have any experience with storage at Gare de Nord. I was thinking of a day trip using a padded bag, If there was somewhere to store said bag in Paris it would be pretty sweet
I've stored luggage at GdN and it was pretty straight forward -- just a big room with lockers that take tokens. I don't know how big the lockers getm but I assume that they should be big enough for a bike bag, given that some need to accommodate larger suitcases.
I had a nightmare of a time taking a bike on the eurostar on my last trip. The first time I did it, it was totally fine. I booked ahead, dropped the bike off before my train, and got on the train just fine. The second time I tried to do the same, they told me I didnt need to book, so I just showed up at GdN with my bike. They didnt let me it the train and I missed my train as a result. In the end, they stamped my ticket so I could take the next train, but they made me put my bike in bags, through the xray machine, on a trolley (they wouldnt let it through without being on the trolly), and inside the packed train, where it ended up being tied to the railing blocking the footpath and everyone's luggage. The conductor was cool about it as it was a crowded train, but hell, I would have much rather paid the 20 euros on that one. Next time...

also the double seat clamp is missing but you can easily obtain one
Hey JD, any idea where I can easily obtain one of these? Im hunting!

thanks for that, but as this one is for my gf (who manages to pretty much break everything I fix for her) I want to try and go as safe as possible and just get a twin rail clamp.
There must be someone out there with one? Or maybe they are still sold new somewhere? Im not picky on brand name or condition (as long as it is still usable).

Hilary, the saddle you sold me was stolen yesterday (but actually, one of the coils snapped a little while before that....what's happening to Brooks quality?)
So...alas....Im on the hunt yet again for another sprung saddle. Preferably and older, sturdier model - B66 or B67 (it's for a lady, but doesnt have to be the lady version).

@Loic - Im def still after some, but im afraid i might have been a little late on the message! (thanks for the offer though). I currently have 2 sets of french cranks without pedals and 2 sets that could use some new pedals, all french threaded.
El D. - you have any Lyotard (Berthoud or rat trap style, looking for both) pedals by chance? the pedals thread isnt usually marked on the pedal itseld sadly, usually was just on the box. If you have a standard 9/16 crank arm, the french threaded pedals will fit in, but would feel loose. Also if you see 14 x 125 on the pedals anywhere, that's a dead giveaway.

veLLo, french threaded pedals are all over french ebay. It's usually not worth buying them because of the high shipping costs, but if you have an address to ship to in France, you should be golden.
...if you want to do some smuggling on the way back, let me know! I need a couple pairs of french threaded pedals as well.

Unfortunately the ones that I bought had the wrong internal bar diameter for inverse brake levers...
Thanks
Sometimes it can be solved with a little bit of sanding on the inside of the bar. My CLB inverse levers are about .5mm bigger than my bars can take, I reckon with a little sanding or a dremel they should fit nicely.
Velo Orange produces road bar sized moustache bars for your levers if all else fails:
http://www.velo-orange.com/beha.htmlFreshtripe stocks them in the UK (I think).
