Yeah, I put that chainset on coz the original was just so fugly. It's not even 9 speed compatible so I'm on the look out for a nice lookin triple. Can't get on with brooks saddles tho.

Got my Dawes Super Galaxy rolling at last. Still can't shift between the two front rings but at least it's rolling and lookin a bit nicer than when I got it.

I think this must be the worst.

That does illustrate the point very well. There's no way I'd get my bike that small but I still couldn't justify couplers unless I was packin it up on a regular basis.

You got any pics of that bike built up? Looks well tidy.

Can't say I have but if I were to do so I'm pretty sure I'd just take the bike appart and bag it up.

I can strip my bike to a bare frame in minutes with a 5mm alan key and a 15mm spanner. Couldn't justify couplers unless I was breaking the bike at least 1-2 times a day.

If your bothered about the CD coating of the Mavics another rim that's a dead ringer is the Rigida Chrina, they're about £16 each.

Same as that. Mavic rims always gotta be CD. The colour has changed a bit in the last few years tho. Kinda lighter and a bit more silvery now. Shame

So if you manually place the chain on either ring it runs smoothly, and you can select the full range of gears on the (rear) cassette, but the front mech cannot make the chain move between the front rings?

I love that Panasonic. the couplers are a weird addition but it only adds to the pervy appeal for me. As do those anatomic bars with their strange tape. Love it.

Cheers Jersey but the cable tension's all good and the limiting screws are set up right but the chain doesn't sem to want to transfer from the small ring to the big ring. It kind of climbs up on top of the teeth if that makes any sense. That's what makes me wonder if it's the chain rings as I'm not sure if they're 9 speed compatible. The chain does run on the ring okay when it's set in place.

Gone to set up the gears on my Dawes and that the nine speed chain doesn't want to shift between the front rings. Don't know if it's the chainrings (Stronglight Dural 52/42) or the front mech? I've swapped out the original Deore triple chainset for an Exage double. Anyone got any ideas? Oh yeah, I'm using a bar end shifter.

Needs black saddle and white tape for me but very nice. Also feel I should mention valve alignment fail. When you've gone to all the trouble of building a bike that good ya know.

I have an old GT outpost frame that looks almost the same. Can do it for £110 but that's the best I can do.

700 rear and 650 front. There is way too much spare room at the rear tho which can't even be justified by possible winter training duties. This is a concept model and so there is still time to go back to the drawing board.

Got a real thing for clear coated frames with tan wall tyres at the moment. I can't get enough.

Red bar plugs are Bonty vibration damping and I don't think they come in any other colour so are almost acceptable.

I had some on my Lemond. Weren't vibration damping but they were reflective. I'm guessing that's why they're always red.

they're called sram s300 1.1 i've got some they're excellent. only down side is they come with a 3/32 chainring and an un common bcd

Yeah, I can't be dealing with the hassle of customs. Might look for something else similar. Had a bontrager GXP chainset on my old Lemond Fillmore, which I really liked so might go looking on ebay for one of those instead. It's only for my ride to work hack so even £160 is probably more than I should be spending.

Dawes is getting there. Should be pretty much done by the end of today. Got all the bits to finish it appart from the the chain. It arrived yesterday morning while I was still in bed and now I've got to wait till monday to get it :(
