Two single-speed "wrongversions" in the bicycle parking at St Pancras.
A Raleigh Equipe which had original chainwheels and a cassette, but no rear mech. One front brake. Locked with a stringlike Kryto-cable and a £1 padlock. Inexplicably had a helmet locked with it (safety first, I suppose...?). This received a friendly note explaining that SS really needs two brakes.
A Youngs 501 frame with a similar Frankenstein job on the rack next door. This one had a working rear gear with a downtube shifter but a single front chainring. Again, one and only one front brake. Already had a note wrapped around the brake cable (from the guy who installed it) saying "Good Luck!". Nuff said.
Watch out for these guys, presumably they're only able to stop by somersaulting over the bars of their extremely shitty bikes.

IMO the pros outweigh the cons, too. I'm sympathetic to Muslim outrage about the war and the specific instances of persecution that the Muslim community has put up with over the last few years, but I think that yelling at soldiers is completely counter-productive. However, that doesn't mean it shouldn't be allowed. It's not illegal at the moment, just distasteful, and that's the way it should stay.
Let's talk about this some more, I find the whole P-M issue a bit depressing.

At the opening, Prince Charles said it was "entirely appropriate that we should continue to provide a sanctuary" for veteran soldiers.
Wow, controversial statement there, Charlie! It's for this level of insight that I enjoy financially supporting the royals, through both taxes and Duchy Original purchases.

*And what haunts me, is that in all the faces of all the bears that Treadwell ever filmed, I discover no kinship, no understanding, no mercy. I see only the overwhelming indifference of nature. To me, there is no such thing as a secret world of the bears. And this blank stare speaks only of a half-bored interest in food.
*
That was the killer line for me. Definitely not a barrel of laughs, but I didn't think that Herzog was particularly unkind to Treadwell. -

It's at times like this I wish I hadn't broken my cameraphone, but yes there is a monster branflake on our mantlepiece.
