46:18 = 63.6GI
48:18 = 66.4GIYou wouldn't really notice the difference. Both above would be a lot spinnier to what you're currently riding. You're better off changing the cog.
48:17 = 70.3GI
48:16 = 74.6GI
48:15 = 79.6GINice one cheers!
I think I may just get a 17T and an 18T and try both out to see which will suit me best

Right, time for me to jump in with my obligatory newbie question.
I am currently riding 48/16 which, whilst a lovely gear for riding on the flat, still leaves me struggling up some of the steeper hills. Obviously option 1 is always HTFU, however, I'm going to be getting a new chainring anyway so I could just be kind to my knees and buy an appropriately toothed one. What would be the difference between choosing between 46/18 or 48/18?

Ah yes, many a time it seemed a good idea to take the peaceful, less populated after pub ride down by the canal
'It'll be safer, there'll be no peds or cars around to crash into whilst I'm pissed out of my brain'
Also no lights hence much crashing into trees, riding into seemingly weak overhanging branches that weren't actually so weak that actually flung me backwards and off my bike as well as a few trips into the canal due to severe co-ordination loss or the one time I thought myself most observant "Mustn't go through that muddy puddle and get covered in shit, I'll just smoothly ride around it..........oh fuck I'm in the canal"
The ride from Walthamstow to Bow is quite nice, the paths are pretty mide most of the way with enough room for both peds and bikes and loads of good graff to view en route if you're into that sort of thing.
