You need to lubricate more often.
Lubrification helps surface friction, and maybe at the moment / on the picture it might be a bid dry (although everything is totally silent) but generally I oil my bikes enough... But here it's not surface damage, it's structural, deep in the meat, can't be linked to lubrification. Chain looks perfect too...
Anyway, not a big deal, I've got a few spare blocks I can replace with...

+1 for forum tee shirt though...

I'm going on Sunday for a week, can't wait!
Came in work yesterday, my boss: "I'm off to Hong Kong on Sunday, fancy coming?"
I've only been here a few months: "Are you a big drinker Gray?" "Kind of" "Good, we'll have a few days working then we'll have a few days boozing!"
RESULT!
You might see Finepics (Mark) as he is leaving tomorow to live there permanently...

Straton cycles in wandsworth had a second hand one the other day, maybe they still have it... I had posted details here...

Might be too expensive though...

BTW, the drawing above is from a french comic called "Joe Bar Team", about a band of friends motorbikers and their desastrous adventures. I have all the books (6 volumes) back in France, my mum bought me the boxset for my birthday soon after I had my license, they are good fun!

(above the little text says "the motorbike always follows the rider's eyes")

CoppiThat, how old are the tyres? What make are they?
I had Metzelers on the Triumph that were probably the originals, 4 years and 4000 miles old. They made it terrifying. Despite appearances they were completely fucked, with zero grip, no cornering ability and a scary habit of following every indentation and line in the road.
A pair of brand new Avons later and boy, what a fucking bike it turned into!I believe his tyres are brand new, fitted in the past 4-6 month... Maybe the pressure? Or he is lying, he was not doing 70mph on the A20, but 130...
Ha!

This is shaping up nicely. My preference is for a late Friday departure, overnight ferry (e.g. to Le Havre) and back Sunday night. Thoughts?
Just googled (Direct Ferry dot co dot uk) briefly, and set a random date in July, return tickets were £65.
When I used eurotunnel, it's always been between £22 and £32 if the idea of a WE (and WE only) trip remains (within 48hours), but it seems that the proposed itinerary above suggests it might be longer...
Thanks for feedback above for long rides.

Hmm, depends on hours in the saddle. I'd say Marky and Adroit have dibs if > 6 per day. ;)
Oh fuck, third time my message is deleted, I am not repeating my boring self again...
6 hours, that feels a lot for an inexperienced "tourer" like me...
Please peeps who did that kind of stuff before expose what can be done, distances, bla, bla...
We discussed with MBoy how to cross the channel, he had ferry in mind, and I thought eurotunnel spontaneously... From my experience eurotunnel was considerably cheaper (if you return within 48 hours, which is the case) but I only took the ferry to cherbourg or caen, so I can't really compare...
Yo let us know!

PS - What about bradwurst on the belgian coast?

Vello, you've just volunteered as our French Liaison Officer.
mmh... only for translation purposes I'm afraid, as I said to Markyboy the other day, my knowledge of french roads is really bad, I would not really know what are the good ones to ride... But I will definitely help as much as I can!
also need to get my motorbike ready in time, which is money pending...
