Never a good day when you find a tree in your lungs. Epic epic fail.

It's true, fixed gear riders drink Volvic - Day 6

This is clearly a brand who understands me and gets my lifestyle. But now I am torn between them and Coca Cola who also get my lifestyle. Damn you - watered down coke it is.

A relative mistakenly bought me a full face a couple of years ago, nothing flashy but it does have a jaw guard - http://www.comparestoreprices.co.uk/images/unbranded/h/unbranded-hood-full-face-helmet.jpg
it currently languishes with my spare bits under a table so if you want to use it Dammit be my guest - your bail sounded pretty bad so anything to help.

What a lovely morning it is, the sun is shining, the birds are singing, I'm pretty sure I saw Cliff Richard helping up a Granny it's that lovely.
BUT I think I've discovered the most irritating thing in cycling to work every day, worse than plastic bags wrapped around rear hubs, worse than buses parked so close to the curb you cant get past them..
Sitting at red lights, and a host of (geared) neon fools pull up past me and assemble in front of me, only to pedal along at a snails pace, with the occasional freewheel, once we're in heavy traffic and I can't get past. Same thing happens a lot with people jumping reds then pottering along - if you're not in a hurry why cut in front of other people?
Rawr.

Pay it, I got one and left it, they just mailed me and increased the charge (up to £45).
On a sideline since that I've stopped running reds, and started noticing the number of idjits running reds, then cycling slowly along the straights and blocking the people who are in a hurry (but didn't run the red), I don't think it'd be people on this forum as they're mostly MTB or Town & Trail but seriously why take the risk if you're not in a rush?! Rant over, I have excorcised the demons.

It was funny yesterday, I was walking around most of the day with a friend on the commons around where I live and we loved it, took lots of pictures, admired the snowmen, the dogs going mental. It was just great.
And then she said "you will see tomorrow they're going to tell us that £xbn were lost today because of the snow". And that is an aspect of the UK I really dislike, the gloomy media. Such a shame because I find British people really caring and amazing when things are tough. They also have a great sense of fun.
+1
watching Krishnan on Channel 4 News last night try his hardest to make everyone feel stupid and lazy for not being in work or sorting things out was just embarrasing. If this does happen every 18 years or so why not f**king enjoy it, who knows when we'll see it again?!
Still at least they weren't going on about the credit crunch...

I don't tend to listen on the commutes as not being able to hear what's around scares the bejesus out of me (white vans aiming for my elbows etc) but on the weekends/real early mornings or late nights:
Backpacker Hip Hop (Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Common)
Tittsworth mixes or other Baltimore Club (Blaqstarr more often than not)
Minimal/fidget mixes (Daniel Steinberg, Solo, HiJack)Nothing better than cruising through backstreets at 6.00am listening to B-Boy Document. Except being in bed.

Having gone through a month of 5 Friday flat tyres (damn Thursday night city boys smashing their Brahma bottles) I whacked on an armadillo at the back and a gatorskin at the front and 3 months in not a single flat - that said when it's wet and your really leaning into a corner I make a little whimpering noise as the Armadillo considers the possibility of letting go.
You could always ensure you get no punctures by riding on your rims. Yes you'll ruin your spine and your bike but you're guaranteed no flats....cheaper than new tyres too. Kinda.

hmmmm, hadn't really seriously thought about the OTP's, I have got a road bike which I use day to day atm but it's a 05 Allez so conversion would involve eno hubs (which is pricier than a beater frame!) so having something to ride isn't an issue really... which is what led me to Todds view, build something so I start to really understand the bike.
But I'm not one to ignore voices of reason, and that Fuji is seriously cheap.. oh balls anyone got a magic 8 ball?
-
-
So I'm about to do my first build and I am facing a bit of a dilemma. Part of me wants to buy a track frame and start gouging big chunks out of my bank account to make something that moves in a way that will make me go "woo".
But since this is my first build I'm thinking I might be being a bit stupid going in at the end where all the big boys are dive bombing - so I should buy me a cheap road frame and build a beater, then I can make all those stupid mistakes that I will make without looking down at a new wheel/crank/pedal sobbing because I was too dumb to know that it was too big/small/coveredinbees to fit the rest of the bike and I just sold my face to get it.
So, would people here recommend I start with the road rust bucket, or save my money and go straight in with a real track frame? What did you do? Did you regret it or think it was the right idea?
Oh and in terms of what I know about bikes I can take a bike to pieces and put it back together but I'm not so hot on buying individual components.
(Braces for insults)

sorry he's out on this one - carry on!
