found a handy littel guide on a different forum.
(still yet to strip mine down though)Use nitromors with a cheapy paint brush, get the paint bubbling and then apply more, at this point loads will come off and the paint that remains will react with the new stripper. Wipe all the residue off with clean paper towels, this'll help you see where there is still a solid pair covering.
Use coarse wire wool next, it'll start to clean up the bare metal and also take off any small areas of paint. If there are any patches of paint bigger than 10mm or so use a bit more stripper dabbed on, get it bubbling and apply more. Then wipe down again.
Hit it with the coarse wire wool again, and once you're happy that the pair is all gone you can go to a finer grade.Once I'm done with the med and fine wire wool I'll use soaked 800, 1200, 2000 and 2500 grade aluminium oxide paper (available in packs of 4 from Halfords for about £2 a pack) and then I'll finish it with the cheap ass metal polish from the pound shop.
The nitromors was a £8, wire wool £1.50, different papers about £8 and the polish was a quid, so for less than £20 and a bit of hard work you can have a mint looking frame. If you do a good enough job with the different grades of wool and paper you'll probably only need to polish it once a year or so.
