I have something that might work - it's actually an old (but quality) steel Claud Butler frame (58cm) built up as a commuter-ish bike with 1x8 transmission, decent tyres, chain, brakes etc. and should be perfect size. I'm in SE1/Waterloo - it's just been out on loan to a fellow forumonger but due back any time now. Looks pretty much like this:

It's now a bit grubbier and a touch more patina but totally sound.

I did wonder about tandem, more baffled as to how they ended up on a solo Mercian but there you go. I don't do Facebook - if anyone wants to take them for £35 I have no objection to them being sold on for a profit! Thanks for the info anyway.

Oh yeah, as you can see, Q/R F/R and spacing appears to be 100/146 [shrugs].

Came to me on a rim brake solo bike but obvs suitable/designed for discs (6-bolt to be precise) and according to the sages of LFGSS (thanks @trigs and @JacqueLucque) tandem use. They are virtually new and no idea what the provenance is - I recognise the logo on the hubs, I think the spider was a branding style of Alf Webb? Anyway, sealed bearings all as new, freehub looks to be up to 10spd but not officially eleven, rims are Alexrims DH19 so wide enough for some chubbier tyres. Spoke count is 40 hole front, 48 hole rear. The rim brake tracks are machined (even with a wear indicator) but also painted, so will soon look untidy if used with rim brakes but they do work as such. Please - take them away - £35 including the shabby 32c GravelKing slicks which are there mainly to protect the rims.
Collect from SE1/Waterloo - ASAP.

Condition as OP described i.e. obvs low mileage, excellent condition, they've had a further clean and the few small marks touched up, the worst (which isn't bad) is on rear NDS and shown in photos. You get what you see, wheels with tubeless rim tape and valves fitted, centre lock rings, HG freehub, set up for 12mm thru axles (not included). I paid £190 incl. shipping, without tyres, yours for £190 NOW £188! including shipping and without tyres! £10 discount if you can collect from London SE1. Some 650B tyres coming to a new thread near you soon.
