Have a look at:
http://pistonheads.com/gassing/forum.asp?h=0&f=174
Most people use many modes, and there is usually a lot of overlap.
That's a fantastic forum, the only other one I use, but even that is not as friendly as this one. (Try the Offical GP threads during an F1 race weekend, gets pretty heated)

I make every possible journey by bike, I will occasionally use public transport shudder when, for example, i'm expected to arrive somewhere looking presentable, and the bike isn't a viable option. When I get a car, I will still do the same journeys on my bike as I did before, the car will only be used for recreation (hoons [equivilant of bike meets, enthusiastic car owners get together, talk about their cars and drive for some distance at the quiet hours], track days and tinkering).
So in short, I use my bike for every possible journey, which is the vast, vast majority of them.

Oh and another thing, that is good for everyone about cars, looking at the picture on people's driving licences is always a good laugh =P
My personal favourite remark on mine was "You look like an Italian terrorist" I've never seen one so I don't have a frame of reference, but the comment made me chuckle.

mmcarthy, I think this thread was created because pics of cars started to creep up in a few other threads. Some people here feel that it is a bit annoying to talk about cars on a bike forum for the simple reason that cars are absolutely everywhere: on the roads, TV ads, Top Gear, magazines, etc. Everybody drives a car. So why as well on a bike forum is the question that a few of us are asking.
I am not against cars but I think London would be such a better place if we had less cars.
This thread is called chat about cars, not auto appreciation. One can't shout abuse at people because they talk about cars but not the way one wants it.
@VeeVee: Yes I agree that it was a good idea to basically have a sacraficial thread for cars to keep the rest of the forum bike orientated. I am a massive car fan, but I can find it massively annoying when people talk about cars, specifically those who get all their "knowledge" from like you say, Top Gear and TV ads. I also agree that London would be a better place if some of the (ugly) cars were off the road, then again, I would prefer it if the roads weren't busy at 8-9am and 5-6pm, i'm sure you see my point there.
I think "chat about cars" is a nice general thread to welcome everyone to post whatever they wish to talk about, as long as it's about cars, if it was auto-appreciation, some people may feel they're not really worthy to post something like "I like this car because" as it would look a little out of place.
Like i've said before, I don't believe abuse is really in line with this forum (unless it's friendly abuse between friends of course) and I would prefer to have none of it, whether it's at the people who are continually talking about cars (myself included) or those who disagree with those people (such as yourself) we all love bikes, we should all get along. I think a forum group hug should be organised =D
@Everyone else: My favourite Ferrari, 512BB, Flat 12 engine, mmmm

The photo I posted was from a the film Cannon ball run II, Jackie Chan is sat on the bonnet.
Thanks for the info. Not a car expert myself (I know a fair bit about the mechanics but not into the model x model y thing) so names mean nothing to me.
Unfortunately I haven't seen it, but it's on my extensive DVD to buy list, the car he drives in that is a Mitsibushi Starion, not all that different looking.

Apologies for filling this page with several posts in the last few minutes, but something just came to me, I joined this forum about 2 months ago, have been on two big forum rides, and one of the best things was the way you could walk up to a total stranger, start talking, and 5 minutes later, you've got a new friend, even on the forum, everyone seems to get on much better than any other forum i've seen. So why, when we start talking about beautiful cars (not dangerous, a car doesn't kill people...except maybe Christine, but even she had good intentions) people get so worked up? Yes, people in cars can behave in a careless manner, it's not the cars fault, it's the lump of flesh behind the wheel, like the same lump on a bike who swerves in front of you without looking, or that same lump that walks of the footpath into you without looking. The car is a machine (yes, some do have a soul =P) do you who hate cars hate bullets or guns? Can't stand the sight of them? Some of you might, but I myself love the engineering behind some guns, i'd never use one for harm, I hate the fact that people do, but I don't hate the guns.
So, can anyone, preferably in a short and to the point manner, tell me why they have an objection to the cars on this thread?
Thanks for your time, I know it was a long-winded post.

Can I suggest something, why don't you organise drinks on auto-appreciation so you can all meet up, bring your auto magazines and share the love because I tried to learn a bit on this thread as I know nothing about cars and all I see are pics of cars (red seems to be a popular colour) with people saying "I like that one" "oh no that one is not as good as that one" and then someone post a comment that the auto appreciation gand does not take well, then a bit of trantrum and drama, nobody likes me, then oh yes everybody likes you, people on this forum are nasty and vile, so much hate, followed by more pictures of cars, yeah but what about that car, more drama, why are you picking on me, more pics of cars....
Thanks for contributing to the thread.
...oh wait.
Look, as it's been pointed out before, if you don't like it, don't read it, it's because of posts like yours that I have to scroll down an extra 10 lines to see lovely pics of lovely cars, like others have pointed out and I agree with, i'm not interested in bike polo, so I don't read the topics, I suggest you do the same, I would say the same for the numerous photography threads, but they do interest me.
And to keep in the spirit of this thread, a car that I love, but to the average person, looks completely laughable.
0.6 litre, hardcore.

^^ Im surprised to see you liking a Trueno... how did that come about?
It's a british sports car, and like the MX-5 and Capuccino, they just happen to be made in Japan =P
Really wanna try one at some stage, at the minute i'm torn between a Capuccino and a Fury for my first car, got a quote of £3k for a Capuccino there, couldn't believe that, 600cc tiny Japanese roadster more expensive to insure that a 2.8i Capri, the world has officially gone crazy.

Can you share the link to your car forum?
What is there to complain about bikes? They keep you fit, they don't sit in traffic jams, they do not use petrol, they don't pay road taxes, etc.. :)http://pistonheads.com/gassing/forum.asp?h=0&f=174
There you go, and i've even been so kind to link you straight to the Pedal Powered section, seeing as it's xmas and whatnot =P
ETA - And they also have this http://pistonheads.com/sales/index.asp?c=85

Bellezza you are very welcome to have a thread to discuss cars etc. but discussing cars with such passion on a bike forum is to me a little strange and out of place.
Personnally I dislike cars, I don't find them attractive. I do not drive but of course will use them from time to time but as little as possible. I also feel uncomfortable with the passion given to cars, particularly fast cars. After all we all try to cure major diseases, stop violent crimes but for some reason we seem to view road deaths as a small price to pay for the "freedom" that cars give us.
I am sure there are car forums where you could share your passion with like-minded people.
Even though it wasn't directed at me, i'm gonna reply, I have always been a car enthusiast, i've always loved motorsport, i'm studying motorsport engineering and my future lies in making cars going very fast, i'm assuming you think that fast cars are all dangerous, which of course is far from the truth, careless people are equally dangerous in slow cars, in fact, most accidents happen at relatively low speeds. Your view on road deaths is pretty accurate, however, you can hardly argue that a bike gives the same amount of freedom as a car.
I am also a member of a car forum, but get this, they have a cycling section, and even more amazing, no one complains about it!
It seems the enemy is more tolerant of cyclists that cyclists are of them.
