Great response GA2G. At the beginning of this thread you said you'd take on all comers in defending Hamilton. It got a big response that's had its interesting moments. I'd like to see you do the same for F1. Indeed, I'd like to see anyone do the same for F1.
raises hand
Seriously though, it's a sport, for people who are interested in it, it's great to watch, I guess it's like 200mph cricket/golf/whatever, it's very boring to the majority of people, as for the financial aspect, it's their money, let them do what they want, as for the eco-friendliness...come on!
Anyway, next season will be a lot more exciting, less aero, more mechanical grip, more slipsteaming, more overtaking, all this comes at the price of some very ugly cars though.

Well give me an obscene amount of money and I'd have a damn good crack at it.
In fact give anyone on the planet an obscene amount of money, a stupid fast car and a load of fitness training and I'm sure people would see F1 for the load of old cobblers it is.Sure, give me a decent bike and a load of fitness training and i'd have a good crack at the TdF. You need to realise that even the worst F1 driver will be miles ahead of anywhere we are likely to be in terms of skill, and money won't help, look at the amount of drivers that pay millions for their drive and are relatively useless.

That statement from Glock is a load of crap to be honest, i'm a big F1 fan myself, F1 fitness is very high, but obviously it won't be as high as a TdF competitor, fitness is basically the sole attribute that determines success in cycling, in F1 it's important, but not as important as in cycling, but to drive an F1 car for up to 2 hours at a time, I'm sure would take it out of even some pro-cyclists, then factor in that they wouldn't even be able to push the car (and themselves) anywhere near the limits.
@dooks, Rosenthal hasn't been around for a long time, and Brundle is a very good commentator, very informative and level-headed. Admittedly the Def Leppard was a bit of an aquired taste (one that I have =P). Touring cars are more exciting, partially becuase of the amount of times they punt each other off (not exactly exciting "racing"), personally I find rally boring, Moto Gp is somewhere in between (never been a huge fan of bike racing, but getting into it more), best racing is usually to be had in Formula Fords/Caterhams/Elise Trophy etc.

I'd considered that, but I figured that it'd be cheaper to go for the sprocket option (I'm a student, so, zero disposable income =P) plus while you're right about the fine tuning option, it would mean possibly more trial and error trying the different sizes, i've bought myself a 15t there so hopefully that'll do the trick. Thanks anyway, all responses are greatly appreciated =D

Haha i'm surprisingly heavy for my skinniness (hard to believe i know), I remember an guy I knew from school (who was quite tipsy at the time) gave me a bear hug and remarked on my "high density" as he put it, crazy physicists, i'm sure Elguapo & Moog will agree that I could handle it, might give them hope of catching me on the hills =P
ETA - But don't worry, i'm not gonna try and be macho and kill my knees, just like a higher top end to drop my times into central
-
Yeah I checked it out on this http://software.bareknucklebrigade.com/rabbit.applet.html
Currently about 70, 15t would be around 75, 14t would be around 80, I think the 15t will be suffice as I can comfortably make the hills on my normal ride (Uxbridge > Central London via Uxbridge Road) with the 16t but just don't have the top end I want.
Taken the warning about knee strain, maybe i'll just wait until i'm too comfortable with the 15t after a while =P
Thanks for your help, it's greatly appreciated.

I'm relatively new to riding fixed (2 months) so forgive me for this thread, i've got an 07 Langster (like I said, forgive me) currently riding on a 42/16, I want to switch to a 15t then maybe a 14t, any reccomendations for a sprocket? As i'm not to sure about different types and which I need, also, if switching from a 16t to a 14t, will i need to shorten the chain or should it still fit in the dropouts? Oh, and it's a 3/32" chain if that helps, thanks in advance guys =D
