That look fantastic! you should show Clefty that.
Need Alfine 11 NOW.
not sure i would pay the extra for another 3 gears? unless it is very hilly or you are towing the spread of gears are plenty fore most..... i think
there will also be a few cheap alfine wheels/hubs becoming available then the 11 speed is launched.
works really well with the Jtek shifter - not sure if they are doing one for the 11?
-
Surly Cross-Check with belt drive Alfine finally completed and rode in on this morning - fantastic.
Can't believe how smooth and quiet it is! not sure i will be riding the Rohloff much now!
Set up is quite tricky though and takes a bit of effort. However if anybody would like any advice I would gladly help

Don't forget the Alfine 11 and it's 409% gear range, pretty close to the rohloff for less than rohloff price.
not that close really and will still cost £450 inc changer! I imported my rohloff from germany for £700ish.
i also have a alfine and the removal of the rear wheel is bloody hard work - the rohloff is fantastic -
everyone moans about rollhoff and sram hubs because of the gripshift style shifters. Surely you can run these though:

They've got an extra click for 8 speeds and i'm sure that lever clicks the indexing off. These are brilliant in use, has anyone tried them?
not going to work with a Rohloff - they have two wires and the indexing is in the hub.

this bloke makes (or supplys) a really neat liitle coupler to allow the belt through the frame...

he doesn't supply, he just fits them to your frame - think he gets them from fixie inc.
just had my Surly Cross Check altered by him - not cheap at £80 plus sprockets/belt

i may be persuaded to sell mine, built up with black cxp33 rim. only done approx 100 miles and would include tube/tyre Vittoria Randonneur 28mm.
However i don't really want/need to sell it....
Let me know how much you are willing to pay? Eno hubs alone are £128....
i have attached photo on current bike...

Just ordered all the parts from Phil Wood to finish my flip/flop belt brive project, but it's taken 9 months of speaking to Gates and PW to get anywhere. Now PW are making Gates compatible stuff they're far more helpful. Matt at Hubjub was also very useful.
I've ordered a PW rear 'kiss off' mountain bike hub with a PW 22t belt sprocket with bolts onto the disc brake side. The other side is a 22t PW sprocket mated to a White Industries ENO freewheel. Front is 55t/Belt 113mm.Solved the dropout problem by using an Alan frame which has a slightly smaller rear spacing but the 135mm hub fits in easily enough. I imagine you might have issues using a 120mm spacing due to the extra width of the belt and sprockets. I've not yet seen any mass produced belt bikes using less than a 130mm.
The only issue I can see at the moment is the front sprocket hitting the chainstay, so i'm going to need a much longer BB and some spacers, but it should be fine.
It wasn't cheap, but then obsessions rarely are.
can you explain a bit more how the sprocket mates to the WI freeweheel?
i am having my cross check chopped at the moment so i can install belt drive and currently use the WI freewheel
cheers
