I might try and scrape the existing sole off and glue and screw a replacement Sidi sole on, like these.

Well unfortunately, as I cleaned and disinfected them, the sole just started crumbling off like cheese. Oh well. They are 30+ years old. Good display piece?

Yeah. Didn’t see that until afterwards. Worse comes to worse, I’ll put them out to display in my bike room.

I’m not too concerned about the weather protection. We’ll only be doing fair weather riding.

Not sure if I’ve posted this. The Dolittle seat is great for my four and a half year old, but I want something we can travel further on, maybe do very short overnighters on (home > train > ride > my parents and return, about 34k’s). The current seat is good for maybe 15k (for both of us). Looking at maybe a Yepp maxi, or even a Wehoo so he can relax if he wants. Concerned he’ll grow out of a Yepp very soon. He’s also riding a pedal bike, so I think he’ll like the Wehoo. I’m also toying with the idea of getting a Clydesdale fork for it.

Picked these Sidi MTB shoes up today from FB marketplace for $30AUD. They look pretty much new... just wondering how old they might be? Early 90’s? The other issue is the sole is a bit gummy. They’re probably going to disintegrate on the first ride. Oh well, I just want them to commute.

What do you do when you decide to stay in a warm bed at 6am instead of going for an early morning ride? You get a burrito at lunch and ride up some cool single track to eat it in the perfect winter sunshine instead. Sure, my ride was shorter, but I have no regrets.

If you have spacing for mini-v, I’d go that path. Although I have had no issues with Tektro CR720 canti’s with Koolstop salmon pads. Fairly easy to set up and adjust.

Haven’t been riding this as much because I’ve been out on the Paconi a lot more and haven’t really been commuting. I desperately need a new wheelset for this as well. The rims are hella worn and both hubs are fucked. It still looks cool though.

Yeah, that’s what I tried. I started on the inside and crossed over at the bottom. It’s so washed away right now as well. Was scared I was going to lose my front wheel in a deep rut.

I tried to. I went down, started going up, lost my line and then couldn’t get back on it without falling over. I ended up walking.

I’ve only done it twice now. Keen to do it more now though, especially seeing that it can link up to a lot of other rides.

I tried this same ride back in February, but with harder gearing. Was nice to go back out and do it again, and actually complete the loop I wanted to do back then. Still had to walk a couple of spots (like the second photo).

It was 4° when I left this morning. I almost regretted going for a ride.
