Yeah I'm thinking a nice posh bar in Chelsea or somewhere would be ok and probably give some nice tips.
i could give you a contact for here:
http://www.electrichouse.com/
if you're interested. as bar work goes i think it's pretty good money, although the hours wouldn't necessarily be 9-5/m-f stylers. -

although the start time is 6pm, do they/you/we usually linger around there for a bit? else it might be quite the sprint from work for some of us...

Like the very clear signs idea, BQ and agree with CG that they shouldn't rival the Ghost Bikes at all. I was just bringing it up as an idea to create more awareness as a whole. There is a risk that the public might see them and be put off cycling but then I guess that is just the other end of the alerting drivers wedge. The thing about how long the plaques would take to make is interesting. Working to a pre-defined template I imagine it wouldn't be long if it was laser cut in a deep black acrylic. Also there's the time it often takes to find out who the cyclist was etc and whether the family would want a sign put up (no idea why they wouldn't).

Just been doing the rather miserable activity of reading some of the recent 'Rider Down' threads.
Saw someone suggesting that rather than the habit of individual Ghost Bikes being left at the scene, it might be nice to have a set sign or memorial for these locations.
I'm sure this has probably been talked about somewhere before but couldn't find it in a general thread/post.
Although to some of the cycling community, the ghost bikes mean a lot, I imagine to a lot of the public, they won't have a clue.
A friend of mine spent a bit of time putting out laser-cut wooden Magpies in similar places in a project called 'One for sorrow'. In my head, something like this could be perfect? No religious connotations, decorative and distinctive.
I dunno, ramble over- I expect to either get interest or shot down, as per the forum rules!
Cheers,
Tom. -
two ladies on single speedsies crossing tottenham court road on oxford street at about 8.20 this morning.. wave
..and earlier, mr. racey himself, royal blue geared ribble (i think), long johns and a bodysuit of determination who hates to be last to work, furiously trying to keep up down kennington road.
i've seen him a few times and i can't be the only one he likes to race haha. -

wouldn't really class this as 'spotted' more, 'awared' but, thankyou to the bloke who shouted "get his number plate, man!" at me on bond street. he'll never see this but it at least made me feel less weird when a taxi drove into the back of me and then the driver had the audacity to ask me if i was a) having a laugh and b) drunk.
honestly mate (driver), if you can't pay attention, that is your fault, not mine. prick. -

fuck it, i may as well just tell you all... i've currently got spokey dokeys on my bike. they were a birthday gift from my flatmate's girlfriend and i've not had the heart to take them off yet.
what am i saying.. i've seen a few of you looking. behind you at the lights, the plink plink plink of my front wheel reminding you so perfectly of your youth. you reminisce for a while and avoid RLJing yourself into the side of a bendy-bus.
fuck your chain squeaks, this is the realness. -
Not so much how as where..
http://www.movingtargetzine.com/images/544.jpghaha, textbook! is that the cut through between wardour (i think?) and soho square?
i quite like the lock through the lock technique on that LOOK one.. raises questions about how it all came to be
