I agree where there's too much weight on the arms and hands on the raising of the bars by flipping the stem over, or getting a rising one, that's a cheap option.
At 6' I agree the 56cm frame seems a tad small but it can be made to fit with the right saddle height, and stem and bar combination - a small frame is a neat and compact option, less frame weight too.
It'd be interesting to know the centre of pedal axle to top of saddle height you ride to guage the right frame size for you. Centre Bottom Bracket to top of saddle is another good clue too.
Walk into a good bike shop and the guy's already sized you up anyway- a woman would say think yourself lucky you don't need your bra and cup size sorted out......

Its pristine and super shiny.

not old, old but gorra Mk2 Medium Giant in brand new unridden respray of Ciclos Uno colours- gold and multicolour transfers, just need to finish building it up. Has Ultegra 9 speed chainset, rear mech, etc Just need to put the bars etc on and set up the STI etc, not sure on wheels- still have the originals and in pristine condition Giant Carbon (actually plastic) spoked wheels with carbon hubs, they had very little use- would be say £230 with normal wheels, and more with carbon spokes. Carbon alu forks with normal headset (Shimano)
Prepared to split etc to a degree.

goran old 105 on Rigida HLC2000 in grey with 32 radial spokes, hub has Aussie flag in centre, skewer too.
Rim originally had an anodised braking surface along with the rest of the rim, the anodising has worn off so it works better by far.
£10 beat that for el cheapo
Can supply a tyre and tube but costs a little extra....

I still use clips and straps on my track bikes for racing- I have raced with Looks on the track but never totally confident in a sprint.
I have manged to wind two straps through both Campag and Shimano pedals. One strap goes through the slot in the toe clip, the other in front of it.
I have the usual leather straps but have had better success with "cloth" ie nylon straps as it doesn't stretch, and they're cheep as chips too. Works a treat.
(of course being an ardent racer I wouldn't be going near chips would I ??? >;-)))) )
