What normal risers I can find would force me to ride on the bend when they're cut as narrow as I'd like.

Get a stem with more upwards reach and just use flat bars, then you can cut them to whatever size you want.

Those bars look shit, just get some cheapo black mtb bars or normal bmx bars

mate, you can get a decent wheelset from graham weigh in deeside, they go for around 70 on ebay but we bought them direct from them @ the manhester jumble for £60.
