TB14 - more appropriate for the bike

Under a month until my trip and the bike is slowly coming together.

The frame bag is a perfect fit (Perhaps a little too perfect - I hope there's space for the paint!) The quality seems very good, and it is very very light

I even found some AERO panniers for insane speed advantage!

Can I ask for insurance recommendations?

Cycle Touring is considered high risk afaik, so to get proper cover I want to ensure I buy from the right people.

I'm touring in the US next month and I don't wish to be clobbered with medical bills if I should do myself a mischief.

Any stand-out policy to consider?

Just pulled the trigger on a Force Ten Helium.

Looks like a solid tent, very similar to the Laser Comp... Only 1.2kg but under £200

Will report back with findings when it arrives

I like this chainset for the fact that it can sit in the mix with any other components and not look out of place.

Shimano R700 Compact 50/34 chainset - NEW - Asking £70

I think this was one of shimano's first Compact chainsets - they produced the R600 and the R700.

This is the R700 which was the lighter model - supposed to be "ideally suited to Dura-Ace and Ultegra groupsets". No BB included.

It works like this:

Get a Flat > Press Button on App > Choose fittest courier girl > wait 25 minutes as she cycles over from Old Street > She arrives with nary a smile, casts one furtive glance at the flat on the rear wheel of your internally geared brompton > She thinks "Fuck that" and cycles off to get another piercing or coffee or whateva

Flapjack is a winner, I'll agree - full of sugar and fills ya right up.

What about a camping breakfast - does anything beat eggs? - Although they are a little fragile for chucking in a pannier!

Archetypes are on the cards, but I wonder about the lack of eyelets - I need the rims to be tough, not fast.

That brazed stem looks sweet - But I think the majority of dynamo powered lights (at least for road use..) are designed to be mounted above the wheel to give the best spread of light.

This lamp is well reviewed - but has a super neat trick: a USB charger built in! I will be using the usb charger to feed a Bike2power USB battery - which will in turn, power my devices

All right! Things are finally progressing on this.

The frame is with Matt for Mods - braze-ons and clearance increased with a bit of crimping.

I was planning to use a NOS Shimano R700 Chainset with this but I scored a nice set of Middleburns off ebay last night in my preferred length (170) so will likely use those instead.

The fork Matt is building me is going to be a Sachs 'SAX MAX' crown and oversize blades and will look thus:
