Thought I'd start a new thread so as not to mix things up in the bi-weekly Surrey Sunday Training Club
So, this is for anyone that wants to put together longer (65miles+) rides, on a weekend (Probably mostly Sunday but could be Saturday depending on weather)
WHEN - Sunday May 9th 2010 @0900
WHERE - Roehampton cafe in Richmond Park70 mile route starting , riding out to Effingham then doing the SSTC 5 Witches route. Tasty climbs, technical descents and some nice rolling bits.
I'm amenable to others meeting us on the way, e.g. at Effingham Station if want to go shorter...
http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/SLRC-ride
Will regroup at junctions and top of climbs but otherwise no planned stops and a reasonable pace.

SSTC "The Five Witches"
Sunday 16th May
Meet at Waterloo 09.30 for the 09.57
**Groupsaves for the win, last chance to buy one is probably 09.45 with all the fucking around and queueing then getting on and off the platform. so. yes. 09.45 if you're training it. if you want to ride it, be at Effingham for 10.30. **"5 Witches". 40 miler. hoping for about 2 and a bit hours.
usual thing, up a hill, down a hill, rolling, countryside, decent paced, more about getting out and about, not stopping for a fag at the top of every hill. courier bags optional.
push yourself around, count the pedalstrokes, think you've fucked it up, get to the top, breathe out, don't stop pedaling, look around, realize that you're alive and the world is wonderful, look up the road and see more of the hill.so to keep things organized, two lists, one for riding out, one for the train.
if you think, "ooh i'd like to do this, but on saturday", do it on saturday. don't clutter the list up.alright then. pub at the end for those that want a beer or a coffee. or even a monster brunch.

"May also do a second lap, need the miles."
why don't you ride out there? the roads are actually very good for riding out. the route to chobham from richmond is on good roads and certainly not an ordeal. (compared to the busy roads that people choose to ride round in circles in the middle of town it's utopia)Also a possibility, if I get up early enough

2010-05-03 Surrey Sunday Training Club (SSTC)
Meeting at 9:30 am Waterloo Station at the ticket office for group saver, leaving with the 9:57 train to Effingham and arriving at 10:45.
New route
We will regroup at junctions and no one will be abandoned.
Brakeless is not recommended.
Weather check the night before.
Climbing is the main goal of this ride..but keep in mind that this technical and beautiful route has also flat, rolling and downhill, which deserves effort as the climbing. The training will finish at the pub! With food and pint!

i was reading some interesting thing in the course of trying to find references for this, that at the time of writing of the article that i was reading (can't remember which) there were 50,000 minicabs, 2,400 of which were Addison Lee, and 25,000 black cabs.
25,000 Licensed Taxi drivers, but only about 20,000 cabs.
