I am over this, and really sorry for being a dick, but I really, really wanted to postpone this game, but with only two hours notice and the boys committing to coming south, it wouldn't be fair. I did arrange Aidan as a sub AND agreed it with Iain before Malice and Ali came down, so I think I just felt like I was being bullied.
I really was not trying to be a bully. I'm sorry you felt that way. As I said, I heard about the sub on the bike ride to Souths, and I simply wanted to register that we were not happy having to play against Aiden, after which I said it remained their choice.
And, as much as I also believe fewer rules = better, this is a league, and there is something to be said for not allowing a team to gain significant advantage by having a sub.

;459961']I'm very disappointed in the rumors flying around about the malice and los conos match...
Can't tell if this is serious. But let me just get this out there, then.
The first time I heard that Los Conos was going to have a sub was on the way to the court, and that the sub would be Aiden (we would probably have postponed to play the regular team if we had a chance, but not after riding South). Otters and I discussed it and figured we didn't want to have to play a sub from BAD, given that we are in second place to BAD and that the Goal Difference matters in this league.
When we got to the court I registered this objection with Sarah. However, I also said that I simply wanted to air the concern, and that they could use whomever they wanted. We did not try to dicate it. In the end, through some process in which Malice was not involved, Los Conos ended up getting a sub that they apparently were not happy with. It ended up being shitty for a lot of people. I'm sorry we helped create a mess. I for one am more than happy to replay this match with all three Los Conos.
And, also for the record, our point was simply that with some subs there can be a pretty unfair advantage given to a team on a particular day. We were thinking something along the lines of, perhaps players from the top three teams should not be able to sub. Maybe better, perhaps subs should have to be from outside the league.
I don't like rules any more than the rest of you, but there is an argument for trying to make it so subbing does not substantially increase the advantage of the team who must sub.
But maybe we were wrong and I'm sorry if our over-seriousness about kicking (BAD) ass took the fun out of the game for Los Conos and Rob.

Here are some UK ABS sellers.
Caps, seem to be the right thing, either 1.5" or 2", depending on what you like:

This place seems to have a better stock of pipe and other fittings. I'll need to call them and figure out what the different classes of pipe are:

yeah man fuck all that expensive shit. my brother in law is a plumber and he can get mad ABS for super cheap. the inside diameter of the small stuff is 1.5" the outside diameter is 1 7/8". maybe a dollar per foot.
the caps are more expensive, something like $2/cap. seems about as cheap as cohen can make it. but i want to get in on make some -- cohen do you think i could come with you once to make some? just for fun?
still, i can take another big order. order 1.5" tubing by the foot and caps in singles or pairs. i'll take a list and see if i can send off one more order in a week. i'll get back to you with final costs soon.
personally i think a 1.5 ABS with caps is the best mallet head there is (at least for the money). but i do also like hassan's mallet (but haven't played with it yet).

Okay, there is some sort of emerging agreement. I'm just going to state this and see if there is any objection:
Default goal height is shoulder (or head?) level (of the closest player to/in the goal). If there is a physical goal height on the court -- such as a football goal or a wall -- then this is the goal height. To be specified on each court.
Mitch: Cones with head/shoulder height
Downham: Brick wall height -

Look, fuckers, I take offense that anyone would say that I bullied a team of women or that anyone would believe that I would do such a thing. I formally registered a complaint with Sarah, and then I said they can do whatever they wish.
I suggested that I didn't think it was cool from a gentlemanly point of view, to choose a sub from the first ranked team to play for the bottom ranked team against the second ranked team. I don't think top teams should lend players to be subs. And I would register the same complaint if Zombie tried to get someone from BAD to play with them.
