Happy Birthday Noel! (slightly belated). Gutted to see we missed one of Vicky's legendary cakes. Could do with it right now after a day of riding Auckland's goddam unrelenting hills.
Still, the two hours on a deserted white sand beach and refreshing swim in the ocean made up for some of the pain ;)Relentless hills eh ! So worse than north london then .....
Well I tell you what the deserted beach sounds amazing hope all is going well with everything
Would have saved you a piece but ummm by the time you guys come back I am reckoning on some bacterial growth on it ! -

I have used both rotary and cylinder mowers .
Depending on the grass type, the ground, different factors come into play .
I have used the cylinder mower for more manicured flat lawns but do find the corners a little tricky
It has a heavy roller on the back which gives it the stripe effect.
Its petrol operated so no need for electric !
Not so great to use on slightly bumpy lawns though .
This is where really you would probably use a rotary mower, and from your description a community garden I should imagine it gets a lot of use as well .
From experience if you are looking for the perfectly manicured lawn then cylinder ( slightly more maintenance with the blades )
General mowing a rotary mower is a good all rounder . You can get them with a roller on the back so you can have the stripe effect if you wanted .
Prices do vary I know the cylinder mower we have was silly price ....but for the rotary Honda Izy
Petrol operated nice and easy to use the one we currently have had for 5 years and still going strong with a yearly service !
Hope this helps if not then ask someones dad :) -

So for those riding tomorrow let's stick to the north London loop.
I've got to ride up from Old Street, so can we meet at The Winchester for a 9am start?
Noel & Vicky - shall we pick you up 9.10 at the end of your road?
I'm riding fixed btw, so will be a bit slow on the old hills.Yep will see you at the end of our road 9.10
Take it we are doing the route heading straight towards totteridge lane first ?
Riding fixed you are never slow sarah
See you in the morning :) -

Does anyone fancy a ride Sat AM? Probably my last chance for a decent spin on the bike before it gets packed up for NZ.
Open to route suggestions - Windsor, north London loop...?
My only requirement is to be back for 1pm, so earlyish start would be good.
